And he's formula fed...what's the best way to transport the (mass LOL) amounts of formula we'll be taking with us in two weeks???

OOOPS almost forgot to add that it's powdered formula. Would it be ok in the suitcases? I'll be bringing enough for 6 bottles with our carry-ons, but need to know how to transport the other two jumbo cans we'll be bringing, also.

What about shipping down some of the extra things you need in advance. That way you don't have to worry about carrying them and your suitcases and carry ons will be lighter. A flat rate box from the post office is somewhere around $8 i believe (but could be wrong

I used to ship it down- or if you are renting a car, stop at the walmart down there. Otherwise you can put in your suitcase, but it will take up a fair amount of space.

I just double bag it in zip loc bags so I don't have to bring the cans. Makes it lighter and takes up a lot less space.

That's what I was thinking of doing, but I wasn't sure if it would be a problem with airport security.

Hhhhmmmm...that's a thought, too! All this baby stuff takes up a whole suitcase, itself!

We ship a box of baby supplies (diapers, wipes, powder formula) to Disney a week before our trip. It doesn't cost much at all and leaves room in our suitcases. Airlines are starting to charge $25 for each additional suitcase per person so it's cheaper to ship a box of supplies to the resort than pay $25 for a second suitcase.

We rent cars and make Target runs. But I like the ziploc idea. Have you tried ready-made bottles? They eliminate the need for water. But I have an extremely non-discriminating child when it comes to eating.

Also wanted to add.....

We used Avent bottles--it's what we registered for and DH didn't want to try anything else. Anyway, we bought the disposable system for that. So, I would take a ziploc marked clean with a day's (+1) worth of nipples and another ziploc marked dirty. Then I just took as many liners as I needed (even for a two week trip because they don't weigh that much). But my load home was lighter and more spacious. It also reduces your "dishwashing" at the end of the day. I also took an old travel shampoo bottle of dish soap. I just used it again last weekend for sippy cups and "silverware."

Spend the extra money for the to go packs of formula, you just add water. Already measured. They are great and don't take up space, just make sure you have water at room temp. we once had to buy a cold water and my infant at the time had nothing to do with it.

Hi,

We went to WDW in April with our 6 month old. We had each adult that was traveling with us carry a large can of powdered formula in their carry on for us - three cans total. We had NO problems with security at all doing this. We used gardengrocer.com for all the other stuff - baby food, diapers, wipes etc - they deliver right to your room. We did end up running out of forumla though and had to take a cab to the grocery store. UGH! The resort stores carry wipes and diapers and baby food - just not the Soy powdered formula we needed.

Make sure you take advantage of the baby centers in the parks - they are GREAT!! Also a stroller fan is a MUST!! I got mine on ebay - search under "fantastik fans" they are foam and light up and cheap - the baby LOVED it! HUGE hit and kept him cool! One more thing - Mustela Baby Sun Block was the best! Gentle on the little ones skin and totally blocked the sun!

When we took Brady at 4 1/2 months old, we shipped all his formula down prior to leaving (we used the ready-to-use Enfamil 6oz bottles). All I had to pack were the nipples. We also stopped at Walmart to get diapers, wipes, food and even a Jumperoo (which was FANTASTIC and worth EVERY PENNY to have in the hotel room!!).

We just got back with our 10.5 month old and just put the cans in our luggage. We also put diapers and wipes in the checked bags -- on the way back, we had room already "preplanned" for souvenirs, since the diapers and formula was used up.

I bought little single serve bags for the powder to put in the carryon. I think they're made by First Years? I also packed 2 of these bags in the park bag and took one bottle full of water -- he's only drinking 3 bottles a day right now, but if we needed too, we could've washed out the bottle and used the second bag of formula.

Have fun! It's a blast with little ones -- they're so portable at that age!!

Thanks so much for the advice, everyone! We ordered a stroller fan from One Step Ahead...hopefully it comes on time!

We've pretty much figured out how we're going to pack everything, and I think we'll even have a little extra room left over!

If you don't have a car and you forget something, you can find almost everything you need for babies at the infant care stations. ($$$ but if you need it, you need it) They are also nice and cool and quiet.
