We have always flown Virgin and booked thro Virin holidays a fly drive. Now we own DVC and have no hotels to book we could book thro Virgin Atlantic using airmiles and money much cheaper .Problem is it seems you cannot book until 7 month window.Has anybody booked differently or how do fly to Orlando.

All the big package companies do "fly drives" (i.e. flight and car only - no accomodation). The flights can be with a whole variety of different airlines (including Virgin, BA, United/American Airlines or one of the charters - i.e. TCD).

Also you could look at pricing your own "fly drive":
- flights through websites like www.lastminute.com, www.expedia.co.uk, www.opodo.com, www.airline-network.co.uk (just to name a few)
- car hire (if required) through companies like www.holidayautos.co.uk, www.budget.co.uk or www.alamo.co.uk
- if you get a car without an "insurance inclusive" package, then maybe car hire insurance from http://www.insurance4carhire.com
- you would also need travel insurance (maybe an annual policy if you don't have one already).

I would look at both "flydrive" packages and doing it independently and work out what is cheaper or suits you better...

Hope that I have got the right end of the stick (and answered your question).

Best Wishes,
Boo

You can book a flydrive a lot earlier than you can book flights only ~ flights only can only be booked 11 months in advance

Scheduled flights are bookable at the 11 month window. We get great deals using Flying Club miles, be it Miles + Money, Companion flights or Reward flights.

I booked miles + money flights in March this year for February 2007 so you can definitely book more than 7 months out.

This is from the Virgin "Mile plus Money" page on their website under booking terms and conditions:

"Miles Plus Money fares can be booked up to 11 months prior to departure."

Thankyou you all for your help .I knew you were the people who would know :dance3:

Things like Miles plus money and Reward flights may be bookable at 11 months, but sometimes Virgin dont release these flights straight away. Ive known there to be no avalibility at 10 months, only for more flights to be released at 5 months. I think it depends on how well the flight is selling.

What I am really trying to say is, just because you cannot get a flight at 11 months- does not mean that you wont get one later on, keep trying!
