Ok so I'm a bit worried about flying for the program. I can't live without my stuff! So I would love some advice from people who fly for the program. I will only be taking 2-3 luggage bags because of the charges the airlines are now imposing on luggage. Will there be enough time the first day so I can go buy bedding, bathroom stuff, and anything else I might need when I get there?

I've compiled a list of stuff to bring on my livejournal, stuff that I can either bring or I will buy there. So please anyones experiences or helpfull hints around be wonderous. :rotfl:

Assuming you arrive early on, later in the afternoon after your housing welcome session (figure around 4ish) you'll be free to do whatever you need to do, and they will be running Walmart busses at that point (they often double up this service on arrival days, due to the shear number of people needing to buy things).

I noticed you live in Cali. I was just wondering what made you decide to go to Florida instead of staying in CA and going to Anaheim?

He actually already is a DLR CM. I don't know about his own situation. However, for me, I would be interested in doing a CP just to see how WDW operates and how CMs work in a much faster-paced environment.

The DLR does many things similar to Florida (even more so since we're all being grouped under the whole "DisneyParks" thing). However, we are a much smaller resort compared to our Florida cousins, and that does mean that there are bound to be differences.

Thanks for the tip on the buses later on in the day!

I chose to go to WDW because I've been at DL for 2 years now and I would love to see how WDW operates and meet some cool new people :)

Hey, I'm from Cali too. I'll be checking in on Aug. 13th and I am also flying. I'm planning on just buying stuff on the day I check in. I've done the program before and you do have plenty of time to go to wal-mart on the first day. I'm also going to have my parents send me a few more things once I get down there. It's awesome to meet another person from Cali whose doing the Florida program.

PS: While your on the program people will ask a lot why you chose to come to Florida. I got that question all the time.

When I went down, I flew with a larger suitcase, a duffle bag, and a box (with pillows, blankets, sheets in it).

It is easy to get to Walmart on Day 1, although using the busses to get there can be quite hectic and slightly overwhelming. It is much easier to hitch a ride with someone who has a car (just offer them some gas money, since prices of gas are so high).

I would definitely think about having your parents send down the stuff that you can't fit comfortably and do not what to purchase at Walmart. Just pack the box beforehand, but don't seal it because once you get there you are bound to think of things you forgot and have them ship it to you.

There are also certain things I would not depend on Walmart for, like a good mattress pad (the beds are usually the kind with the plastic outer covering, not too comfortable). Even if they sell good ones, they don't have many so things like that I would try to bring or go somewhere else to buy.
