Flying to HHI, Charleston or Savannah?

I will be flying to HHI and renting a car in late september. Flights into Charleston are $40 cheaper than Savannah.

Suggestions or thoughts on which is best/easiest.

I am pretty sure that Savannah is closer to HH; in fact, I think the airport is called Savannah/Hilton Head Island airport. I know the airport is small because I've been there, but it is sure easy to get around!

Charleston is probably a good hour or so away. Both are great cities! In terms of easier, Savannah would be your best bet, IMHO

Savannah is closer and you may eat up most of the savings in fuel costs driving in from Charleston, which is over an hour away.

Charleston is closer to 2 hours I think, Savannah an hour or less. Of course there is an airport on the island but less choices and more expensive. Personally I'd do Savannah if the flight timing was about the same benefit to you at only $40.

We flew into Charleston and the drive was 2 hrs. I would fly into Savannah. Not much more expensive and like Dean said, it is an hour or less drive from here.

You'll save an hour+.
Sav/HHI airport is great for a quick arrival and then off to your destination.
I love that airport!

If your flight out of Sav is in the afternoon try and get to the city in the morning for breakfast at Clary's and a walk down East Jones St.

Savannah is 1 hr, Charleston is 2 hrs and bigger. Savannah's beautiful little airport has 8 gates, and it is very easy to get in and out and on the interstate to HHI!

Sounds like Savannah is the right choice, driving a couple of hours after an early flight is not for me.

Plan on going up to Charleston for a day while we are there so I will save the drive until then.

If you are wanting to go to Charleston why not fly into Savannah and fly out of Charleston?
Saves a drive to and from.
You could even stay the night in Charleston before flying back?
