I have non-refundable tickets flying out of Tucson in the late afternoon in May. Now it looks like I can take off work earlier than I originally planned. Does anyone know about flying American Airlines on an earlier than scheduled flight? Could I just get to the airport early and see if they will let me change flights? I can't find anything on the web site and haven't had time to call. I would love to get to Disney ahead of schedule.

I would call the night before to AA and see how full the earlier flights are. If there are seats available I would go to the airport early and stand by. If the flights are full I wouldn't bother.

AA is different from most of the other airlines. The majority of fares allow standby, however there are some which do not(like flight specific fares or discounts on a particular flight). You would need to call american to find out in your case.
