We're flying on Delta Song for the first time, and I have a few questions for those who have flown them before:

What type of entertainment is available (on the TVs)?

How exactly does the food service work? From what I understand, it's all a la carte - is it reasonably priced? What are some of the choices for snacks?

Is the overall experience comparable to other flights or much, much better? (I hope that's not wishful thinking ;))

The Fly Song website, shows a picture of the TVs and list what is available as far as programing!

they also list the food menu, sounds like a fun flight, can't wait

We just flew Song for the third time over this past Memorial Day weekend and this was the first time that we had all of the tech stuff. It was great. There are 24 radio stations. 24 tv stations, 2 pay per view movie choices, you can watch the progress of your flight on another channel. The food choices were very good. We just got snacks but the chocolate covered pretzel was out of this world. The TV made the time fly by no pun intended.

LOL. You know, sometimes the solution is obvious. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

...and thanks for your input Tiffany.

You are welcome. Hope you have a great flight.

One suggestion based on my recent Song experience (I loved it!): bring your own cheap headphones. They provide little ear buds, but by about 2 hours into my flight from LAX to Tampa, my ears were hurting. In FL I bought a $5 pair of over the head style headphones (I figured behind the head type would be uncomfortable when I leaned back) and was so much happier on the return trip. Watched waaaaayyyy too much HGTV and to my dh's astonishment got inspired by the time I returned to finally make our study look decent ::yes::

Do standard headphones from CD players work also?

Yes. Any type of headphone will work. I have a pair of behind the head and they were great. Much better then the buds.

It's great to hear that they're offering PPV movies as an option too. On my last Song flight (LAX to MCO), I got bored with the TV programming after a couple hours and having PPV movies would have been a nice option. I guess I've been conditioned to watch movies on cross-country flights. :) :) :)

As long as the plug is the small size type, it should work fine; I think that's what's on all CD players.

Selling food on board will always have the problem of too much left over of running out of food. The problem snowballs because passengers bring their own food on board having not being able to buy any on their previous flight. You might want to pre-order food, if Song still lets passengers do that.

I loved my Song flights in May and getting Delta FF miles to boot wasn't bad.

The planes were clean, bright and the staff was so nice. PPV movies were $5 each, two choices for the BOS-MCO flights. I had a salad during one flight which was delicious. People around me were talking about how different Song was, in a good way. I've never heard that on other flights before.

My new first choice for flights is Song, followed by parent Delta and then the others.

Do all Song flights have these bells and whistles? We usually fly Delta but are flying Song for the first time in a few weeks.

I'm pretty sure the seat back monitors (complete with many channels to watch, 2 movies, trivia contests with other players on board) are standard for Song. It's been quite a while since I felt good flying on any particular airline, but I did with Song...what a refreshing change. Some of it is just little silly stuff, like when you need to put your seatbelt on during a flight for turbulence, one of the several announcements is along the lines of "The captain has invited you to a sit-down-and-put-your-seatbelt-on party. Attendance is mandatory!" It's a recorded voice done in a friendly tone, and it brought a smile to my face. Little things go a long way in the midst of a day of travel :D
