OHH DAHHLING, I am not one for flying! Let me tell you I've been having slight pannic attacks all week. But I got my prescription for a mild seditive allready in my purse, I have my gameboy battery charged so I can be distracted, and just think, when you get there, you are going to be in heaven!!!! Think of it as a mission and once you get through it, you will feel really empowered!!

I am the same. Although I fly a few times a year, I don't really like it. I make sure I get a pillow and blanket on the way in. I grab whatever magazine is in the seat and just start reading. I usually take my hand held Yahtzee too. I also take a writing pad, and start my trip report. That usually keeps my mind occupied!

Safe trip! :wave2:

Anytime you feel even the least bit of stress, think of the misery involved in driving from P.A. Two hours vs 18 hours, that's a big motivation to deal with your stress of flying.

Visit www.fearofflyinghelp.com for an explanation of all those potentially scary noises. I am a very paranoid flyer and it helped me a lot.
I bring lots of stuff to do (DVD player, CD player, laptop, books, and hand held games), plus a couple of Xanax just in case. That way, if I am separate from my husband (if we are flying standby or whatever), I have things to keep my mind occupied. Once when I flew standby, I really bonded with the woman next to me, and the time went quickly as we spent the whole time chatting like long-lost buddies. But some seat companions don't like to chat, so play that by ear (personally I can go either way, so I go along with whatever lead the other person does).

I too am not a fan of flying, but since my mother and sister live in Florida, I am getting used to it. I always bring a walkman with my favorit CDs and as soon as I can use it, I turn it on and surprisingly enough, I am to my destination before I know it.
Also, an early morning flight sometimes helps. When I fly in the early morning, I tend to fall asleep and wake up only when they are getting ready to land. I know what you are feeling and I hope all goes well. I will be flying alone in November, December and again in March. In January, I am taking the whole family. Two small children, that flight may be worse than flying alone LOL
