Flying out of Tampa???

Quick question...

If we decide to fly out of Tampa, how early should we leave prior to our flight? I would rather be way too early than miss a flight. I am assuming a 2 hour drive, so would 4 hours before the flight be enough time? I don't like to feel rushed or have a panic attack if someone decides they need to stop for a bathroom break. We would have luggage to check and a rental car to return.

We frequently go in and out of Tampa. It is so much easier than MCO. We stay in the Windsor Hills area and it is an hour to an hour and 15 minutes to get to the airport on a Saturday. We usually schedule our flight around noon. Security and check-in is much quicker in Tampa.

Thanks! We are trying to put together an acceptable combination of price and flight times. We are planning to return on a Tuesday and the kids will have school and I have to work on Wednesday morning so we are on a limited time schedule. We do not want to leave the hotel before dawn, but we also do not want to get home after 10pm. Although the flight schedules haven't been released for our dates yet, SWA currently has a non-stop flight from Tampa that leaves at 2:30pm and arrives at our airport at 4:45pm...and it is half the price of flying out of Orlando.

You could drive over to TPA the night before and stay at a hotel there. There are a few nice ones that are 5 minutes from the airport. Then there is no need to worry about make the drive on the day you fly out.
