Flying out of Memphis

Has anyone flown out of Memphis? Flights are cheaper there than from St Louis, but we're a bit concerned about safety. Any info about leaving a car, hotels near the airport, etc is appreciated!

We always fly out of Memphis. The long term parking is in a covered parking deck with a very close walk to airport. I think it maybe connected. We didn't feel unsafe at all.

We flew in and out of Memphis airport on vacation last year and I have to say it was one of the easiest airports I have navigated. Clean and almost empty!! I am too much a control freak to enjoy going to strange airports but Memphis was a breeze!

I have lived in Memphis my entire life. Airport is very safe and very easy to navigate. Brand new Economy parking lot is connected to main terminal with moving sidewalks and luggage carts are available free in garage to take bags in. Only $6 a day. Can't really recommend any hotels right near airport though. Downtown near Beale street is good for sightseeing or look in East Memphis or Wolfchase area for nicer areas to stay.
