I have always travelled on airlines that had reserved seats, most recently airtran. With some airlines, you need to check in at midnight to check in, for some it's 24 hours before the flight. Which is it for SWA? I know this is somewhere else on the boards, but, if somebody who has flown recently could answer, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

they recommend that you check in 24 hrs. But it is not required, it just gives you a better number to line up for getting on the plane. unless you pay for the early seating. I don't remember what it is really called.

I recommend reading up on everything at Southwest's web site. But if you want a better seat check in exactly 24 hours before the plane is scheduled to leave.

Assuming you don't pay for EBCI ($!2.50/person/each direction), which will automatically check you in 36 hours before your first flight of a day, you can check in yourself 24 hours before your first flight.

thanks everybody! I'm not paying for the early seating because we are 2 adults and a 16 yo, and I think we can fend for ourselves for the short 2 hour flight. But, I like window seats and the guys like aisle seats.

FYI, for all airlines, it is 24 hours before flight time.
