Since this is the only airline that we really can fly with going to Orlando I was wondering if I purchase my airfare now for our Feb-March trip of 2006 now and the fare does by some miracle go down will NW issue us a travel voucher for the difference? The price has already gone up by 10 dollars and I am afraid with the rising costs of fuel the price will even go up higher. So should I book now or should I wait until September? That is what we did last year and the prices were a little cheaper but I am not as hopeful for that this year. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Picking airfare is like playing the stock market. You should buy airfare when it is a price that you know is fair and you are willing to pay. I am in MSP so I know that anything close to low 200s is a good deal to MCO. Do you know what is a good deal out of North Dakota?

I think gas prices will definitely have an effect on airfare. It's the second biggest cost the airlines have after labor.

It's so hard to tell what prices will do. You say you are planning on February-March, which tells me you are travelling at the peak Spring Break travel season. That's another factor you need to consider. It will be busy and the planes will get full at some point.

Bottom line: When you see a price you can live with, buy the tickets.

vfb2girls- I am flying Northwest next month. I got a great rate, but a couple of weeks after I booked the rate did go down for a couple of days by $30.00. I called to ask if I could get a rebate. They said yes, but there is a $25.00 charge to do this, so I didn't bother for the $5.00 savings I would have received  The $25.00 is charged each time you change your booking. You can call 800-225-2525 to verify this with them.I booked 4 months in advance and have not seen the rate come down again.Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. Flying out of Bismarck last year we got our airfare to Orlando at 355.00 per ticket and now this year so far it is showing 418.00 a ticket so that is quite a bit of increase but with the gas prices so high I am not sure just how much that price is going to come down. If it wasn't such a long drive to MPL we would go that route but who knows what kind of weather we will be having that time of year, don't want to get stranded on the side of the road somewhere!

Last April we flew from Springfield Mo to Jamaica and we bought the tickets months in advance. The price ended up coming down over $200 per ticket and we were able to get vouchers for $178 each . They just had to be ticketed in the next year. So we bought tickets this past February for an August flight.

That truly sums the airfare situation up (especially on NWA).

I envy all of you who are able to fly Southwest and JetBlue for $59. I am willing to do the cattle call for $59 a ticket. I just need the plane to land safely at MCO and safelyt at MSP. I don't care where I sit as long as I am on the plane.

That is an extra $142 x 2 = $284 savings. I could spend that money at Disney...forget assigned seats.

I am sure someone else will disagree but that is just my personal perference. TO EACH ITS OWN!!!

I totally agree about the airline, with us being in Bismarck we are so limited to airline choices. I would gladly fly Jetblue, Southwest, any airline that would offer a decent fare. But I don't think that is ever going to happen from where I am from. It costs us well over 800.00 dollars in airfare alone, and that is for only two people! I can only imagine what I could do with that extra money we would save if we were only able to get cheap fares.
