Hi all

I wasn't sure where to post this so I hope it's in the right place!

My boyfriend has had about 20hrs of flying lessons in a Cessna, but has not been able to afford any for a while. I have heard from him that Florida is a great place to learnt to fly and I would like to book him a flying lesson or two as a surprise when we are out there.

Can anyone recommend a flying school at all? Preferably one with a website or email as I am in the UK and phoning around could get expensive!

Thanks in advance :)

Go to AVWEB.com,

that site will have links to flight schools all across America.

hope this helps!!

Here is the link: http://www.kissimmeeairport.com/

The Kissimmee Gateway airport is close to WDW, has five FBOs, and many flight schools on property. It is a good place for taking lessons close to Disney properties.

Try Sunshine Aviation in Kissimmee The link is: http://www.sunstateaviation.com/

Since his pilot training is from the UK, I assume, it is vital that he contact them early on to make sure that he has his medical up to date and all of his training records and flight log with him.

I don't think it is a wise idea to try to surprise him because he will have to have all of the records with him in order to get any credit for the flight training. Now, if you just want to go up for an introductory flight without any training credit, then it can be a total surprise.

Hi

Thanks for the info. If I decide to do it i'll keep it a secret to nearer the time...otherwise i'll have to hear about nothing else from now to November!

I think you can keep it a secret.
Unless he plans to solo or take a checkride, I don't see a need to have previous records or a medical certificate with him. If he wants credit for flying in Kissimmee, he can simply start a new logbook and bring that home with him.

Now, at 20 hours many people are getting close to solo, but the instructor would likely want to fly with him for more than a flight or two before they sign him off for solo.... Especially if it has been a while since he has flown.

Flying into Kissimmee airport can be very interesting, as it is possible to end up only 1500 feet above Cinderella Castle, Spaceship Earth, and all the other good stuff. Of course, with the flight restrictions imposed over WDW, you will need a clearance to do this.

Have fun!
