Anyone do this instead? Are there shuttle services? What kind of cost are we looking at? Does Disney to the "my express" from there as well?

I'm not sure about the ME from Tampa but I doubt it. We fly into Tampa all of the time. You can rent a car and drive very easily. It is a straight shot from Tampa to Orlando. The drive is approximately 1 hour to 1.5 hours depending on traffic and construction.

Unfortunately, a car isn't an option for us.

If you are not able to rent a car, you will probably need to fly into Orlando because the cost for a taxi/limo/van/etc. is going to be pretty expensive. Tampa is about 50-60 miles from Orlando, and it is about an hour and a half (depending on traffic - could be longer) drive.

Fly into Orlando and save yourself the hassle.

I have to agree. Without a car, Tampa isn't really a viable option for getting to WDW. It's at least an hour--and can be a lot more depending on traffic, construction, etc. A car service would probably cost you about as much as a plane ticket, plus it's a long car ride at the end of a travel day. Enjoy!

We have flown into Tampa numerous time and driven to WDW..it's about 1 hour drive (and usually it is a huge savings for us)...for flight and rental car.
But if driving is not an option...I agree you would be best at MCO (orlando airport). I can only imagine what a towncar, etc would be each way, but I would think costly.

Nope, no shuttles and DME doesn't go there. I'm renting a car at WDW and driving to Tampa, then returning the car at Tampa Intnl the next morning...about $50. From what I understand, it's a pretty easy drive, except for traffic.
I think that if a rental car isn't an option for you then you might be better off flying into MCO rather than Tampa.

The only bus service to WDW from Tampa is greyhound and they are not on the airport. You have to get to their terminal to get service. A taxi will run about $160 plus tip.

I'm not sure what a town car will run, but using Sanford as a guide, it's about $200 from Sanford and it's about 50 miles from Disney. Tampa to Disney is 76 miles, so I'm guessing you are looking at $250 to $300.
