I'm considering flying into Sanford airport for my next Disney trip. What rental car agencies are there? Do they have good rates? What experience have you had flying into Sanford? Good? Bad? Horrible?

Here is the link for Sanford airport's list of car rental agencies: http://www.orlandosanfordairport.com/rental.asp The list includes Alamo/National, Dollar, Avis, Hertz, Thrifty and Enterprise.

We rented from Alamo when we flew into Sanford in July. I just booked with Dollar for our trip in February. In July I got a $154 rate for 9 days of a Full size car; for our February trip, I booked 8 days of intermediate for $265. That was the best I could find right now. I'm hopeful that discount codes will come out for February.

We flew Allegiant in July and are flying them again in February. I was very pleased with the airline. The Sanford airport is very small and easy to maneuver. Security was very efficient. Our overall experience was positive.

The Alamo rental location is in a separate building from the airport and is a little hike to get to. It's not a bad walk, but it's good to be prepared for it.

Hope this helps you.

Can you tell me the usual time it takes to drive to Disney World resort area from the Sanford airport?

Depending on what part of WDW and traffic, about 50 minutes to an hour.

We are coming into Sanford. Not all of the rental places are open 24 hrs so you need to check. We got a full sized thru Dollar for $225 with KISS2 code. Check out mousesavers for codes.

KISS2 wouldn't work for me. The Dollar website said that the code is only valid through 12/14. I used the Magic Card corporate number and the web special 635 promo on Dollar to get the intermediate at about $250 for 8 days.

When are you going and for how long Redhead? I'm checking mousesavers every day.

We are going 12/8-12/17. Maybe the code worked because our trip starts before 12/14. :confused3

Sanford Airport is a nice little airport to fly into. First off most flights in and out are non-stop. You get off the plane walked down the corridor about 50 yards, down the escalator to the ground floor, go over and pick up your luggage 20 yards and walk out the front door of the terminal 30 yards. Most of the rentals are on the first floor about 30 yards from the carrousels. Alamo is about a 100 yard walk out across a parking lot to their area. Outside across the street is the Mears taxi stand and the area the car services park in order to come into the terminal to "meet and greet" you.

I have heard many comments on how easy it is to get around. The only big problem is the Allegiant Airline schedules. They are not normal, but workable.
