Hi
We are flying into Long Beach on July 3rd and are looking at our best options to get to the Sheraton Park. This is our first time going into Long beach and staying at the Sheraton, any suggestions? Thanks

We love flying into Long Beach. We always just rent a car. I found the best rates thru Alamo, with the costco discount. Our trip last month it was $138 with taxes for 5 days. We like to have the car so we can run to the store for water and what not.

The drive from the airport to the park is super easy. You head out of the airport on Wardlow street. Wardlow becomes Ball, which boarders the backside of the park. Its not the fastest route, but its by far the easiest!

We flew into Long Beach in May, and loved it!

We rented a car thru Costco.com (that is where we found the best rates!)

Make sure to double check any parking fees that your hotel may have...they add up!

There is a shuttle company that has a shuttle park out near the rental cars. I dont recall the name, its not one of the big ones like super shuttle. Alaska Air gave us a voucher to use them to get from Long Beach to a hotel near Orange county when our flight was canceled/ changed. I dont recall the name. But, I think something was posted about it being $65 each way. But, I honestly dont remember why I think that.

I think you can book thru super shuttle and they will send one to that airport, but its not like SNA and LAX where they just have them outside waiting.

yeah i would definitely do a shuttle vs renting a car because after getting the rental, and paying the hotel parking resort fee, I just dont think its worth it..now if you are going to go elsewhere besides DL then ok but otherwise you are paying alot of money just to park a car and have it sit there...shuttle services are not bad and there are several that are price comparable...and as far as stores go...there are quite a few in the area that will deliver...all in all it may be cheaper to got that route than to rent a car...

Just did the same in May and since the parking fees at the hotel were high, we took a taxi in. Disneyland area is $45 flat rate (we asked about it, so not sure if you need to or not, but the metered rate was over by about $10 each way). Another option for you.

We flew into Long Beach in Feb, and across the street there is a parking lot with an attendant kiosk. They have van shuttles that took us to Best Western on Katella. It was $40 I think. The driver was really nice, made conversation with us, and then made an appointment to pick us up from our hotel and take us back to the airport (for another $40 of course).

Supershuttle is a good option but we also like Execucar. It is a bit more expensive but you go in style. It isnt' quite limo service but close and cheaper than a limo. I think it is about $80 from Long Beach and they will greet you at baggage claim, take your bags and load them in the car and take you straight to your hotel with no other stops. That is for up to 4 passengers.

www.execucar.com

They have other options as well.

Thanks everyone, we are just doing DL and DCA, so I think we are going to go the shuttle or taxi route. Hows the Sheraton this is our first time staying there.
Thanks again,

This isn't for everyone. But for those reading, we usually spend some time at Disneyland and some time doing other things. In the summertime, we usually fly in and do other things over the weekend. So we rent a car, pick it up at the airport and then go to the beach or wherever we've decided to go, stop by the super for breakfast foods if we have a fridge and the hotel doesn't provide, and then drop off the car near Disneyland because we don't need it for the Disneyland portion of the trip. Most agencies have a location near there and we've never had a drop off fee because it's a same city drop off. It goes without saying make sure the agency you choose has a facility within walking distance of the hotel you plan to stay in. For the trip back to the airport, we ride the super shuttle. That way, we're paying for the car only on the days we need it.

The Sharaton Park is GREAT! We stay ther often and Love it!:cool1:

Tagging on to this thread: does anyone have a suggestion for a good hotel to stay the night before a mornng flight out of LGB? We won't be nearby the area that day but would like to stay within an easy drive of the airport, so that we don't have to account too much for traffic the next day. If it were a place with a nice pool or something that kids would enjoy, that would be nice...

No hotel recommendation, but I will tell you not to get to the airport 2 hours before your flight, like at a large airport. One hour at LGB is plenty. Fastest check in and security ever!

it depends on when you are going for sure because it is a tourist town due to being a cruise ship port but down by the shoreline there are a couple of hyatts, the hilton and the queen mary as well....theres a really nice one called the Reinassance but i have a feeling its really pricy...very old and has a lot of character...but if you look along ocean blvd you should be able to find a few...
