If flying into HNL from the mainland (LAX or SFO), which side (left or right) of plane has better views? What about leaving HNL?

We flew into HNL twice because we island hopped. We were on the right side when arriving and saw some mountains/skyline. On the left side when leaving and saw Waikiki beach area. Honestly, wasn't much of a difference to me. I think you'd have views on either side.

depends on which path your plane takes that day. my first time flying in we were on the right and had great views of waikiki etc. Every other time we've taken a different path and looped around.

It depends on how the wind is blowing and the approach flight path that is being used. We flew in from NYC and sat on the right side. We came in over the east/windward side saw Kaneohe Marine Base, Diamond Head, Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, the USS Arizona and turned over the leeward side of the island over Ko'Olina and Aulani for the landing. This week we have noticed planes flying over Aulani sometimes during the day to turn and head back to the airport.
Just like at home depending on the weather and wind I live under the approach to JFK or LGA.

The right is better in Oahu but if you are on the left you can see the other islands flying in

Thanks for the responses. So it sounds like there is no guarantee that the plane will take the same route every time, so basically a luck of the draw type of thing.

Last time we were on the right flying in and got some good shots of the resort from the air!
