Flying in and out of Tampa....

Has anyone used the Tampa airport to fly in and out of and then make their way over to the Port? We are planning on flying in the night before our sailing, but the flights to Tampa are quite a bit cheaper than to Orlando. I think it's an extra 1.5 hour drive from Tampa, but other than that, how is Tampa airport and drive compare to Orlando? Also, there are a ton of limo/van type options out of Orlando to the ship....do these services also exist out of Tampa? Thanks, Jo

Tampa is an easy airport to fly in/out of. I believe its about
an hour drive from Orlando, so to the port you are looking at about 2 hours total. Not sure about limo etc service. You could always rent from Avis and drop off car at the Radisson Avis location next to the port. I would compare the Orlando flight with
limo vs Tampa with rental car/limo and see what the difference is
then figure if its worth the extra effort to drive from Tampa.
Try looking into Melbourne FL I think thats about a 1/2 hr drive away from the Port

It takes us 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to DisneyWorld -- and then it's another hour or so to the Port.

I do think the Cruise bus runs out of Tampa somewhere though b/c I've seen them driving quite often.

I also live in Tampa (well Oldsmar, between Tampa and Clearwater) and it's about a 2 to 2-1/2 hr drive to the port. We did it on 5/23 when we cruised on the Western Magic. You'll incur some tolls, but I don't think it's more than $5 each way. And, of course, the rental car and gas.
I'm not sure about the Disney Cruise bus -- I've never seen it on I-4 down Tampa way. Only around WDW and going from WDW to the port. Doesn't hurt to ask, though.

Tampa airport is VERY NICE and easy to get in and out of.

You'd definitely want to rent a car. The DCL bus does not run to the DCL terminal from TPA. And town cars would cost too much because of the distance.
