Fellow Texas WDW lovers - I'm traveling in mid-December, solo. Prefer to fly out of George Bush (MUCH closer to home) but will will drive to Hobby, if necessary. What are the best deals you have seen out there? Should I pounce on that SWA 3-day sale or wait a little longer? What is the lowest price you have paid? I didn't pay out-of-pocket for my last trip to Disney so I have no idea what is a good price.

Waving to you from Dallas!

6-8 weeks out is generally going to give you the best price and still allow you to book Magical Express. Kayak.com is great for comparing!

SW has the same 'sale' every other week. Been like that for years. Not seeing anything I'd say was a great deal but I don't know your dates. Another choice is United who often has some good deals and have morning nonstops.

I would definitely prefer to fly United. They have the best schedule.

We prefer southwest because we are rewards travelers and live closer to hobby. But last year we paid about the equivalent of 140.00-150.00 each way for summer travel out of hobby. This year our going to flight in November was 160.00. Waiting on the coming back as it’s hovering around 300.00. I’m hoping that flight goes down.

I just did a search and this is what I have so far -

$197.98 on Southwest out of Hobby. I would have to leave Sunday instead of Saturday. The $99 fare is sold out on Saturday. I'm only staying four nights as it is. Don't really want to shorten my vacation to three nights only.

$226.38 on Spirit out of George Bush. I can travel Saturday through Wednesday, I do not that they have ONE flight out of MCO on Wednesday.

$275.40 on United Airlines. It's the most expensive but it has the best itinerary.

Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.

Just plugged in IAH-MCO Dec. 15-19 for you on Google Flights and I'm getting $143 roundtrip on Spirit, with departures at 7:35 am or 4 pm from IAH on that Saturday. That price I think includes taxes+govt. fees but not bags or any of the other stuff they charge you for (like water!). But perhaps you could pack super-light and fit everything in a small duffel that would fit under the seat in front of you?

I've been plugging in different dates trying to find cheap airfares for my own trips and the lowest Houston-MCO I've seen so far has been ~$112 on a Tues-Tues. trip in September on Spirit, or $100 when Southwest has a sale. I also subscribe to EscapeHouston.com's emails and Facebook feed - they send out alerts whenever flights from Houston go on sale to all sorts of destinations, and I've gotten some insanely cheap flights that way. Might be worth looking at to help keep track of airline deals.

Do a search on https://matrix.itasoftware.com/
It is the same search engine travel agents use. Can often find the best deals. I also use Kayak because it will search different airlines for each way of your trip. Sometimes better times and rates flying two airlines instead of just one.

Thank you! Doing one-way searches I was able to find a United flight from MCO to George Bush for less than $100!

I wanted to let everyone know that I finally booked my ticket! I did a search on the United fare calendar for one-way tickets and booked the one from MCO to IAH for $50! There was one from IAH to MCO for $60 but it was for Friday which would have been an extra day of vacation and an extra day of hotel and would have cancelled any savings. I did book a one-way ticket on Spirit from IAH to MCO, with 1 checked bag and all the taxes, for $111.
