Flying home on Thanksgiving?

Hi,

I have just started planning our trip for next year. We are looking at the first 3 weeks in November. Based on flight prices for this year, the best price's are for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

If we go out on the Thursday it would mean we return on Thanksgiving. Can anyone tell me if that would be a problem? Would there be any advantage to returning on the Wednesday instead?

Thank you.

Don't think it would be a problem. I've flown out on Thanksgiving and it's just like any other day.

My DHs family flew over on thanksgiving last year from NY - said it was the quietest flights they had been on!

Thanks Elise79. I wasn't sure if flights would be full, or completely dead.

Flights are likely to be fairly empty that day, especially if you have any flights within the US. The day before Thanksgiving is traditionally the busiest travel day of the year in the US and I would avoid it if possible.

Thanks Lolsmum, you've just helped us set our travel dates.

You're better off flying on the Thursday than on the Wednesday - lots of traffic on the Wednesday because everyone's trying to get back for the big day.
