To Orlando with Aer Lingus can anyone advise IF you clear immigration @ Dublin ?
Thanks

We flew from Dublin a few years ago and we were cleared for US Immigration at Dublin. You stay in the departures lounge and when ready go through the US immigration. When you have gone through there is no going back though, so make sure you have all you need prior to that gate.

I would stay in the main departures for as long as you can, as the Us departures gate is very basic, with very few amenities.

Thank You so much for your response :thumbsup2 I wasn't sure if it was just some flights that cleared immigration @ Dublin or them all.

I am considering using them for first time this year, they do the routes I want (MAN~MCO & BOS~MAN) about £200pp cheaper than anyone else. Just hope I can book before prices rise.

You also clear customs in Dublin as well now and arrive in Orlando as a domestic flight. There is a new terminal open at Dublin now but there is still not much to do once you clear immigration.

The only slight downside to clearing customs is we have ended up not taking snacks like fruit onboard to avoid any possible problems and we also were not offered duty free onboard on the outbound flight due to everything being cleared before you leave Ireland.

We have only done immigration in Orlando once in recent years and it was awful so love having this service here.:)

We have done this twice now and its so great landing in orlando and just going to get your bags.

There is a cafe area after you clear immigration that sells water and some snacks and we have bought stuff from there to take on board. We never buy more than a couple of bags of crisps and some water. Duty free I have seen people with that they have bought before clearing.

Its a great service just a pity we can't book the dates from scotland that we want at the moment. they dont seem to be allowing bookings far enough out in october for us.

Just a word of warning you need to allow time to clear immigration in Dublin we have seen staff shouting people to the front who are late for other flights and it can cause problems. The staff are really lovely and seem much more friendly than we have experienced elsewhere. Its a bit of a walk as well when you have to negotiate other people etc.

We looked at that too - but decided against, as on the return journey there was a long stopover in Dublin. Can't recall how long - but several hours, I think.

We would be flying back from Boston to Shannon then onto Manchester, 1st leg is 5hr 45 mins, 1hr 0min layover and 2nd leg 1hr 30mins Total journey 8hr 15mins.
Just about as good as indirect can be.

We had about five hours to kill so we booked ourselves into the aer Lingus lounge in terminal 2. Had a lovely shower and a kip on the comfy sofa upstairs it was great, ok a long layover is not great but by using the lounge it made things much better.

We very nearly booked with Lingus through dublin (SEN-DUB-MCO) for two reasons: one, the connecting local flight from an airport 20 mins drive from home, and two, clearing customs in Dublin.

If VA hadn't had a cracker of a deal in their january sales for our dates for LGW-MCO, we would have done!

:goodvibes
