Hello! I don't know how many Texans frequent this board, but I'm going to ask anyway...

First, let me start by saying that I have not purchased airfare in a little more than a year, so I'm not sure how good the deals can be these days. In the past I've never had problems finding airfare deals (checking daily to ensure I find them) for around $150 or below for a non-stop flight from DFW to MCO. I'm just wondering what the trend over the past year or so has been. Is there anyone who flies this route who can give me an idea of what kind of "deals" they've found over the past year or so?

So far, I've been able to find non-stop flights for March in the $196 - $250 range. I'm VERY tempted to book the $196 today, but I don't know if I should hold out....March is 6 months away, so I suppose there's still time for a better deal. (?)

Thanks!

Book the $196 if it's still available. That's not too bad of a price. It's been a few years since I got R/T DFW/MCO for under $200.

I searched for several months for a good airfare from DFW to MCO for our trip in November. In July or August, I was able to purchase tickets on United from DFW to MCO (with one stop) for approx. $145 (with tax) a person. (This was the best deal I have seen since watching the fares.) I checked my farewatcher on Travelocity.com everyday and was able to quickly grap this deal. It only lasted for a few hours.

If you are somewhat flexible about which airlines you will fly on and if you do not care if it is non-stop, I would suggest that you sign up with a free farewatcher service on one of the big travel sites--Travelocity.com or Expedia.com. You will then need to check it every morning and be ready to purchase the tickets immediately if a good deal comes along.

If you have strong preferences about which airline that you fly or if your schedule does not allow for you to diligently check the internet on a daily basis, then $196 is not a bad price.

Hope this information helps! :)

My SIL and I will be flying DFW to MCO on Oct. 22, AA. We got $165.58 pp (191.50 with tax)

Thanks you guys!

I decided to go ahead and book the tickets. I paid $196.50/ticket (includes all fees), for a total of $589.50. (DFW to MCO on American Airlines.)

I always budget $600 for airfare, so even though it's not the golden deal I've had time to "hunt" for in the past, it'll do.

Thanks again!

In the last couple of years, we had great luck with very low fares on direct flights from DFW to MCO. In 3/2002, we flew on Delta direct for $101 and in 1/2003 we flew on Delta for $161.

So when we began planning our 12/2003 trip I was hoping for airfares around the $150-180 range. Nothing seemed to be coming up so we went with the earlier mentioned United/US Air flights for $155. This will be our first time trying a connecting flight with our kids but it saved us over $200 total compared to the direct flights.

A few weeks ago I booked our 5/2004 trip using American (Delta was the same price but we liked the flight times for AA better) for $191. Once again, not as low as I would have liked but not bad really.

I sure would love to see those super-low prices again but I am going to be happy with anything under $200 at this point.

Good luck and have a great trip!

I think you're right!

By the way, I remember that $101 fare with Delta! I posted it on these boards one Saturday morning after I booked flights for my family (including my parents and MIL). Ours was an April trip that year. I was STUNNED when those prices turned up.....those were certainly the good old days!! I no longer can afford the time to search every single day for fabulous rates. And besides, I would REALLY be surprised if a fare that inexpensive returns anytime soon. :(
