Flying for Christmas to Disney!!!

We live in Houma, about an hour or so away from New Orleans. I'll be heading that way, Elk, we are taking on your Barbe High Bucs this Friday in the playoffs!!!

Disney is a magical place but even more so during the holidays! The decorations, the Osborne Lights, the resorts each do their own thing, you'll have a wonderful time! Congrats!

What a wonderful surprise for your boys!

What a nice surprise for the boys and you! You might actually feel like doing something at the World on the first day.

I hate to be a wet blanket, but you'll have to really organize your packing versus unlike when we drive we often pack things in the Green Disney recyclable bags. Even though SW doesn't restrict your luggage, we all are limited to on the number of bags by how much each person can carry (or should I say roll). Do you have "Santa" bag coming along too?

I remember our first Christmas time family trip. We left the day after Christmas and stayed through New Years. We surprised the kids on Christmas morning with the trip. We gave each on of the kids a Disney Christmas ornament in their stocking. The boys opened their ornament, threw on the pile and moved on. DD thought for a second and realized that we were planning to go to Disney, but didn't realize we were leaving in 48 hours.

We had a great trip and have return five years straight, the same week. This year will make six. That trip lead us to buying our first DVC contract in March, three months later.

You will will love WDW at Christmas time. In fact the other times of the year, the parks feel naked without all of the decorations.

When do you arrive? Do you have any specific questions about that time of year?

Mom has the Santa stuff already planned, she is awesome! She has taken the day off before we leave, so she will pack everything up while the boys are at school, then when I get back from a soccer game, we'll let them know about it!!! Going to be soooo hard to keep it from them for these last three weeks!!!

We will depart bright and early on the 19th, and we've done a good bit of homework so far on it... we are planning on mostly sight-seeing, and taking in all the resorts, decorations, dining options, and of course the parks during our trip. It is something my wife has wanted since we got married all those years ago. We just hope the boys will enjoy it as much as we will.

I just love that you and your DW plan this together. I'm the sole planner even though my DH loves his DVC/Disney. The boys will love it because of your excitement. I'll be there with my neighbor at SSR visiting our DDs in the WDW college program. You know, moms can't let their babies celebrate Christmas without family ;)

Well it wasn't always so... we my DW and I visited Disney on our first year anniversary before we had kids, I swore I would NEVER GO BACK! It was in the middle of summer, and the heat and the lines totally turned me off to it.

Then after we had our first child, we brought him when he was around 4 years old.. to see the magic through his eyes changed my whole outlook on Disney.. we have been going ever since.. and now that we are DVC owners.. we love to experience it several times a year!

Totall agree..Christmas is family!!! Only 13 more school days until we leave!!!

This is our 1st DVC visit and our first visit over the actual Christmas holiday- it was actually my 13 year old sons idea- I was thinking 1st DVC trip for Spring Break, he said "how about for Christmas"...only 18 more days til that is reality! We are driving so it makes it a little easier to bring stuff along- a small tree and decorations, a "santa" bag for all the gifts! People talk about the the horrible crowds, but we know in advance and are planning a more relaxed visit this time....

Enjoy your Disney Christmas! Isn't DVC the best! We have not even been on this vacation yet and are already planning family Thanksgiving visit next year with extended family- without DVC that would not be possible :goodvibes

Welcome HOME!!! Welcome to the club!!!

We only have about 9 more school days left until we leave.. we can barely STAND IT!!!

Thanks, we are also planning on being much more "laid back" this Christmas visit to take in all the sights, and sounds of Christmas in Disney!!!

DVC and WDW at Christmas are a lot of fun for teachers. After the September retirement extravaganza I didn't have enough points for the holidays. Our last pre-retirement booked trip is 12/26 to 1/2, mostly staying at Windsor Hills in a townhouse, but NYE at SSR!

(DH retired after 38 years teaching HS social studies in June). This will be our 6th WDW Christmas week, crowds and all. It was what we could do on the teaching schedule.

Everyone enjoy!

Wow.. tell your DH I said congratulations!!! I hope both of you share many, many more years of wonderful DVC vacations together!!!

We are very excited.. only 6 more teaching days left, and 9 total now!!!

Countdown update.. down to only two days!!!!!

Now stalking Southwest Airlines.... waiting to get the best deal for our next Disney trip in May!!!
