this question is for those that have dined at the Flying Fish... would you pay OOP to go and eat there ?

I always pay for everything out of pocket, so I guess that kind of makes my opinion moot.

That being said, I definitely would pay for my meal there. It's one of the five best restaurants on property.

Since I don't use the dining plan I always pay OOP to eat there. It's one of the places where I like to go and eat at WDW.

thanks for all your gracious inputs...makes me want to go NOW ... I must be hungry .... will pass this info along to a colleague that has been wanting to try it out ..but found the prices a bit high .....

So excited to hear people are willing to pay OOP for FF!! We are going in Sept on DxDD and booked FF as one of our meals. It must be really worth it if people are willing to pay OOP. Any suggestions as for what to order??

I know it is the Flying FISH - but the Char-crusted New York Strip is the best steak I have ever tasted! To die for - can't wait to have it again!

Exactly what I was going to say. We go to FF for this dish almost every single trip.

We used our TIW card here last trip. We were both extremely disappointed with our entrees. Dh got their evening special "thunder fish", I got their signature dish, wrapped snapper. Both were very tasteless, nothing spectacular at all. The crab cake appetizer was very good as was the selection of cheese appetizer. So with our discount, plus gratuity, we paid $108 out of pocket. this was with no dessert and no drinks. I would never go there again. I always see people on these boards raving about it. DH still says the best fish he's had (or I should say salmon) was at chef mickey's believe it or not. The best other kind of fish was at California Grill. I forgot what kind it was (had an unusual name....and wasn't always on menu) but it was wonderful....melted like butter in your mouth. We are also in the minority about Boma. We both disliked it. Gave it another try two trips ago, we thought maybe we just hit it on a bad night. Nope, still don't care for the selections and flavors.

Yes! In fact, we even recently did the chef's tasting dinner at the counter...it was FABULOUS!!!

I love the scallops and their mussels appetizer (this can be a meal in itself).

We always pay OOP. I've never had a meal here that I didn't think was satisfying.

Yes, its one of the best restaurants on property.
Although when we've had the delux dining plan and used credits we still paid for the dining since it wasn't free for us any of the times, it just saved some money. Now we have TIW and we still save 20%. But thats just an added bonus of both, why not get a discount if you can!?

on the same note !! what are your favorites at FF !!

Flying Fish is my favorite among the Signature restaurants and one of the few restaurants that I want to eat at every trip (and I go to WDW several times each year:rolleyes1:rotfl:). Usually I am on one of the DDPs, but for my next two trips in Sept and Nov/Dec, I've decided to go with the TiW card and just pay for my meals OOP instead. I still made ADRs for Flying Fish for both trips though.

I love their tomato/mozzarella salad, cheese plate, or mussels for appetizers, then depending on which risotto comes with the scallops that particular night will order either the scallops or char crusted steak for my entree. For dessert I usually get whichever trio they are serving that night (love the peach or chocolate trios) or else get a cheese plate. As a Texan, I love steak.:rotfl: The char crusted steak at Flying Fish is by far the best steak I've had on Disney property. I have not eaten at Shulas (which I hear if very good), but the steak at FF has always been alot better than any steak I've ever gotten at Yachtsman, California Grill, Narcoosee, Citricos, Jiko, or Artist Point. Last Dec I was lucky enough to get two ADRs for Le Cellier (lunch and dinner). After being unable to eat my very salty meal the first day, I canceled my second ADR on the way out of Le Cellier that day. On the night I was supposed to dine at Le Cellier toward the end of the week I walked into Flying Fish instead. It was my second meal there that week. I had the tomato mozzarella salad, scallops, chocolate dessert trio the first meal and the mussels, steak, and cheese plate the second. Both were delicious and even though I was on the DxDDP, I would not have had a problem paying OOP for either meal.

Yes!!! We love FF and think its one of the best sig.
we ate there last in January and did the chef's table. I can't say enough good things about it. The service alone is always some of the best that we receive on property.

It's wonderful. Try the potato-crusted snapper. OH MY....:cloud9:
