Just back(4/12-4/17)-3 really good meals
Rose & Crown- have never eaten here with our many past trips, but glad we finally did. Got lucky with a 7:20 reservation and an outside table for Illuminations. Started w/ meat and cheese platter, followed by smoked salmon, and potato and leek soup-all very good.
DW and DD had fish and steak(really tasty) and I had banfers and mash(w/mushy peas)-ok. Really good service, nice wine and a couple of pints rounded out a really nice meal A-(will go again)
Flying Fish- our second visit, loved it the first time, loved it again. DW had the signature dishes-crab cake app. and red snapper entree. DD-a steal and myself a ceasar salad and the scallops over risotto. We loved it all, with a bottle of Pinot noir and good service(even got us in 45 min. early on a busy night-helped w/ a tired kid) A solid A (our best meal of the trip)
Mama Melrose-a first for us, with some trepidation, after the many mixed reviews. We found it to be more than acceptable-not high end Italian, but certainly better than oloive garden. DW had a ghonnci(sic) bolognese, DD-pepperoni flat brak and me a penne w/ blush cream sauce sweet onions and pancetta(and peas per my request). A bottle of Chianti and a very fair price and good service. I would try again, but not a must do B-
As an aside, we really wanted to see Fantasmik at 830, but did not want to eat at 330(fantasmik pkg.) We arrived promptly for 650 ADR, mentioned to server, we would like to move along (she did , but never rushed);left at 650, seated far right at approx 800 with seats no worse than those w/ dining package, seated far left.
Be happy to answer any questions.
