Flying Fish or Artist Point?

We can only do one Signature restaurant and I am having trouble deciding between these two. We have looked at both menus and still can't make up our minds! The trip will just be me (22) and my mom (55). Thanks for the help!

We far prefer Flying Fish to Artist Point ... not only do we think they have a better and more varied menu, but we didn't have a very good experience when we dined at AP. So far it is the only signature restaurant at WDW that we have no desire to ever visit again.

I've had very good meals at both.

If you both like fish it is a no-brainer IMHO - Flying Fish.

If you or your mother have never been to the Wilderness Lodge and you otherwise wouldn't get there that might tilt the balance the other way - the whole experience of seeing the hotel and then having a good meal is really a lot of fun.

I would say FF for ease of getting there. You can walk to Boardwalk from Epcot or take a boat from DHS. To get to WL you would have to go to the TTC if coming from anywhere except the MK, from which you could take a boat. There is also a ton more to see and do on the boardwalk at The Boardwalk.

FF without a doubt. We *liked* Artist Point. Everything was good. Service was attentive, if maybe a tad pretentious? It's a nice place, but the decor doesn't feel special to me. It feels kind of hotel-ish.

Flying Fish on the other hand feels special. It's an upscale restaurant, but it feels very un-pretentious, more fun, more bustling. The service is excellent. It always seems like it takes awhile to get drinks, though. :confused3 The waiter we have had (yep, same guy 2 years in a row) is very knowledgeable and friendly. The menu feels a bit more progressive than Artist Point. It is one of our favorite WDW restaurants.

Two quibbles with FF: (1) the afore-mentioned slow drinks - don't know why, but it happened both times; (2) cold dessert that should have been hot -the waiter was APPALLED when we told him. Those things notwithstanding, it is on our list for our 2010 January trip.

If AP works in your plans better, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The food there is VERY good. It's just not a very special experience.

BTW - I prefer the ambience at FF to the Cali Grill, Jiko and Brown Derby as well. We've never tried Narcoossee's or Citrico's so I can't comment on those (next trip - maybe!), but of the signature restaurants we've experienced, the atmosphere at FF is the most enjoyable and easy-going.

I have to agree with all of the above. The Flying Fish is the better choice. We have been to Artist Point and it was just OK. No matter what your looking for as far as fish or meat, you will be very happy at the FF. It also has a much better atmosphere!

We ate at both about ten days ago - FF would be our choice (although we have had some very good meals at AP in the past but just not this time).
