Flying Fish Chef's Counter



WE had dinner there last Saturday. The Chefs are cooking in an open kitchen, so if your table is bumped up to the counter, and ours was, you can watch as they create the marvelous meals that guests have ordered. WE had so much fun watching them, they were talented, focused on their tasks and still laughed and talked a little with us as we watched. It was nice to eat our meal after having watched these talented people create it and others.

Thanks for the quick reply. We have ressies there on Monday night and I was disappointed that the Dine and Wine had not come back yet. 1) how was your meal/experience? 2) can you reserve the counter? 3)is there wine parings available? 4) everyone in casual dress?

You cannot reserve a table but do request one when you check in. The meal was outstanding. This is my pork belly with shank croquette and Quail egg. It was delicious. There are wine pairings for each course, but the servers will guide you if you prefer to choose your own.

The dress was varied. We dressed nicely but not in park attire, but you will see folks in very casual clothing. I would say resort casual and you will be fine.

If you can spare the time, I would also suggest you try Tiffins. The setting, the meal and the service are all on point.
I rarely tell people what to spend or choose at any meal, but if you do go, let the servers help you choose the meal, and do not choose Taste of Tiffins. WHile it is a sampler of what the restaurant offers, it is not really representative of what the menu was designed for. Looking back on a week of fabulous food and beverages, if I had to choose my last meal from any one of them, I woudl choose Tiffins, and end my time waiting to enter the Pearly Gates, cocktail in hand, on the veranda of Nomad's Lounge.
 
I'm hoping to try both next week. We decided about 3 weeks ago to take a quick trip the 19th thru the 23rd and since we know the parks are insane this time of year are going to try to take advantage of the express bus service for PHs and spend more time eating than riding rides. As long as we get to see each park and maybe ride a few rides, it's going to be all about the food and new lounges that have opened up. I tried Nomad lounge in September and loved it, I could spend a few hours there just relaxing and hope to try the lounge at Flying Fish this trip. As far as sitting at the chef's counter, I can skip that since I come from a family deeply entrenched in the restaurant business. My grandmother owned a restaurant, my mother managed one, I have two brother's who are chefs, another who is a line cook and another who manages hotels. I been in too many kitchens to count and would just as soon not see what goes on in there.
