Flying Fish Cafe

My wife and I are staying at BWI from 8/28 to 8/31. I booked a reservation at the Flying Fish Cafe as we've been to many of the other restraunts over the past seven years. I've booked it for the simplicity of us staying a few steps away at the inn and my wife an I love to dress for dinner. Especially since we will not have the children this time around.

We would love to hear what experiences other couples had at the Flying Fish.

We ate at The Flying Fish in 2006 and the food was to die for. Everything is very fresh and its nicely presented. I had their signature dish, the potato wrapped snapper and it melted in my mouth oooohh I'm getting very hungry thinking about it! It was definately a very pleasant experience, well worth the money and we will return!

The FF menu is wonderful. You will not be disappointed.

We ate at the FF in December of 08. LOVED IT. DH has the potato wrapped snapper...I ahd the steak. Fabulous. It's a must for us on our next trip. DD 6 even wants sto go back to "that fish place". It was fun to walk around the Boardwalk too. There were some neat jugglers and such that night.

Flying Fish is our favorite of the restaurants on the Disney Dining Plan. Its a bit noisy, not very romantic, but the food is worth it.

I ate there about a year ago and the food was wonderful. However, I was a little disappointed that they didn't even try to enforce the dress code. I was solo that trip and when I arrived they seated me at the bar. That was fine, but the young lady that was seated beside me was wearing flip flops, very short running shorts, and a low cut, tight fitting tank top. I got to talking to her and she told me she had come down to Florida for her sister's wedding two days before and decided to come up to Disney to run in some marathon. I swear she came directly from the marathon to the Flying Fish without changing clothes. She just looked really grungy and since I was sitting right beside her, I couldn't help noticing. Normally I couldn't care less what people wear and don't even notice, but you couldn't help noticing this young lady. She smelled.

DW and I ate at FF a couple years ago. FANTASTIC! Potato wrapped grouper is great. Get a "Glowtini"!

Although not exactly the same type couple, my brother and I ate here in late 2008. What can I say, nt as romantic as going with our significant others but nobody else in our lives gets Disney like we do. We sat up at the first section of the bar which actually faces into the kitchen. It was really neat to watch the chefs fire off the orders and to see how it all got done. I started with the mussels which I think are no longer on the menu and he had the crab cake, both were excellent. For our main course I had the Potato Wrapped Snapper and he had the NY Strip. The snapper was prepared perfectly and his steak was one of the best steaks I've ever tasted. I had a dessert that was a chocolate three ways, a chocolate purse, a chocolate iced cocoa(I think...I remember it was a thick iced cold chocolate drink lol) and I cannot recall what the third offering of chocolate on my plate was , my brother had a seasonal choice that I thought included pumpkin but my memory doesn't serve well on either dessert other than to say I recall both being decadent and wonderful. We both went with the wine pairings suggested on the menu and were very pleased. I think sitting up at the kitchen area bar is something really fun to do if you have any interest in cooking and really works best in pairs as you need to only look in one direction for conversation.

As an aside our entire family ate here as part of a big family reunion way back in 2003. We were a large group with varied eating requirements, some allergy based, some vegan based and they really were superb with a large group as well. Some of the standout meals I recall from back then were the Mushroom ravioli that was offered as the vegitarian choice and the NY Strip. Thier crabcake was the standout appy that time. Hope you enjoy your meal and your trip. We are really big fans of the Boardwalk area.

What is dress code? (I think being clean and not smelling is a given).
