Hi all,
Greetings from the other side of the Big Blue. For a few weeks I have been checking this board and reading posts, today I decided to join the fun.
Over the last 12 years I have seen so much of the US, but WDW holds a special place as I am a big Disney fan.
First time to Disney was in 1997 when I was a member of an American drum corps, competing in DCI Finals at the Citrus Bowl. Back then, Disney was a partner of DCI and therefore the corps competing also performed around "The World". We did the Hercules parade in the MGM studio's and had some free time in MK. After Finals me and 2 Dutch friends stayed a little longer and went to MK a full day. After that, I was hooked
In 1998 DCI Finals again were in Orlando and we did a performance in MK, marching before the Disney Electrical Parade, which has to be the coolest parade I ever performed in. The whole backstage experience was cool to, I got to see the CM's in "half-costume" and had a nice real conversation with Chip and Dale, Donald and Goofy. All of them had roots to Holland, and they spoke my native language (Dutch), which was quite interesting to say the least.
Since then I have been back to the States 10 times, visited WDW twice for a week. Want to go back
To still get my shot of Disney I combined 2 trips to the West of the US with a visit to Disneyland. This park is absolutely great, but not as magical as the entire World in Orlando. Also I have been to Disneyland Paris twice, and planning a new trip this summer.
Too bad that flying to the US is getting more and more expensive, which stands in the way of going every year. But untill my next visit I am sure that I can get a little shot of Disney on this forum.
Cheerio,
Twan from Holland
