Leaving out of Logan on Sunday. Is it easiest to do online checkin and print everything out at home or just checkin at the airport and check our bag? We are only checking one bag...TIA!! Want to make this as pain free as possible. Traveling with dh, dd's ages 6, 7, 8...1st time flying with the kids!

We fly out of Logan as well and we always just use curbside check in. Hand them our bags, pay a small fee and they give us our boarding passes. So much easier then having to deal with the line inside the terminal.

Warning! Arrive EARLY! Let me repeat that arrive EARLY!

Boston apparently has decided to become a royal PAIN on the TSA checkpoint. They are doing "chat up" to determine if you are a "risk" Since it's never been an efficient TSA operation this is NOT helping! Frequent Flyers are furious with the wait times.....

Our flight is at 2:20 so we were planning to arrive at 12:20...enough time? Dh doesnt want to do curbside checkin (?) so we will be doing online or a kiosk or at the counter...which one...how easy are the kiosks to use? Or would we just be better off getting in line since we have a bag to check??

You now have possibly two lines to stand in. They will push you to the Kiosk. Check in and then you have to stand in line to check luggage since your DH refues to use the curbside check in.... I would allow 30 minutes for this mess at Boston. Hopefully it won't take too long, but.... YOu could check in on line, print boarding passes and skip Kiosk. That will allow you to go directly to the baggage check line.

Reports from Monday said it was taking 30 minutes to clear security. It appears to be a "backlash" because they got called on thier racial profiling by the media. Now they are CAREFULLY examining all liquids etc.. I don't know how long the 'we are proving we can do our job" act will go on, but....

So you have two lines of potentially 30 minutes. And then remember Delta is not directly past security, you have to take the moving sidewalk to the far terminal. Takes me 5 to 10 minutes and I don't have kids :)

If you are AT the terminal at 12:20 you are probably good. If by "arrive" you mean at your parking or something then you may need a little more time.

I'm not sure the exact reasoning behind not wanting to do curbside check in...probably a little of both! Can someone walk me through the process, maybe I can change his mind!! They print up our boarding passes as well? My sister in law is dropping us at the airport as she lives 10min from Logan...was thinking we should be dropped off at 12:15!?! Thoughts...TIA :)

I would do online check-in, then you can go to the bag drop line and skip the kiosk.

So when I check in online I print out all of our boarding passes and that is all i need? Then hop right in the bag check line? Sorry...there was no online check in 10 years ago and I didn't have 3 kids with me ;) I just want the least amount of hassle!!!

We always check in online, print our boarding passes and do curbside check in at LGA. There is no extra charge for curbside check in, but we always give a gratuity. It is definitely the fastest way to check bags because you don't have to deal with the lines inside the terminal.

My second choice would be using the kiosk. They are very simple to use. Either type in your Skymiles number, if you have one, or scan your confirmation or boarding pass. Then head over to the line to check your bag.

Yes, that's what I always do.

I am a delta frequent flier based in Boston. I actually find it pretty straight forward especially on Sunday's as long as its not vacation week from school in feb or April!

Even before TSA Pre-check, I routinely parked my car at Logan central parking 1 hr before my flights, got boarding passes, dropped luggage inside, cleared security, and traveled to the 2nd row of gates in time to get coffee at Starbucks and board my flight.

When traveling with the family instead of alone, we usually opt to be parking 2 hours before and entering the check in line 1:30 before...we are usually thru security with one hour to go and then proceed to the gate area where we get snacks, do final potty breaks, and the kids play in the play area while we pack up the stroller etc.

I recommend you check in online but print boarding passes as the kiosk and check luggage there...(I prefer that airport paper than mine). If you are coming in from the parking garage, when you come down the elevator it will be the section in the center of the Delta section. The Delta desk closest to the elevator is for silver status folks and the far end with more red than blue s the sky priority desk for those with gold status or above. When you are done with that, head towards security and follow the line for families if you can. They will coach your kids about their shoes (not taking them off etc) as well as have wider lanes for strollers and people.

For what it's worth, I dont Check in at the curb either....have. Good trip!!!

The kiosks are very easy to use. Our printer has been temperamental lately, so I used the kiosks for my most recent flight out of Logan in April.

As a PP mentioned, it does take a while to walk from the security check point to the Delta gates. The good news is that Logan has little play areas throughout now, so your kids will be able to burn off some steam before the flight if you find yourself there early.

Interesting to hear about security. I will mention this to anyone I know traveling in the near future.

Thanks to everyone for your help!! I'm sure once I walk into the airport it will all come back to me!! I get a bit anxious about screwing something up lol!! My printer has been acting up as well....I will try to print our boarding passes off at home but if I can't it is good to know the kiosk is easy to use! Would you recommend paying for our one checked bag at online check in as well? Will that speed things up? Then I just hit the kiosk, then bag check then security?
Thanks a bunch!!

Following this thread with interest as we are flying out on Delta later this week (early morning flight). Thanks for all the great info! I plan to do online check in but we'll have one (or two) bags to check. So my best options are curbside check in (we are not opposed to this, but what do you typically tip them? ) or the "baggage drop" line? I'm not sure I am not sure I'm familiar with that line! Is it obvious to find and much shorter than regular check in?

Anyone have any experience using Pre-flight to get to Logan? We are torn between that and Logan Express(Woburn). Thanks again.

I can't comment on the pre-flight. But, we've used Logan Express out of Braintree many times and they've always been punctual and professional.
