Hi, I found some really good direct flights to MCO from PDX in January. I was wondering if anybody has done any cross country flights recently and how’s it gone? Have you felt safe traveling in this climate? Like my mom said you could get sick going to the store. I’ve watched some vlogs and Disney seems to be as safe as they can be. The flight is fee free cancellation if I buy the tickets before September 8. Any advice is welcomed!

Flew earlier this summer, flying again in 5 or 6 weeks. Had no issue earlier, don't anticipate one in October. Found airports (BWI/RSW & BWI/MCO so not exactly cross country, just about 2 or 2 1/2 hour flights) to be just fine, clean and one of more laid back flight experiences we've had in a long time! Wouldn't hesitate to fly tomorrow...BUT I'm not a normally uptight or anxiety prone person and feel as safe as under "normal" conditions sticking to prescribed and current protective measures. If you go - have fun and enjoy yourself, no doubt you'll be in the Company of others at WDW who are doing likewise!

I don't have an answer but am following to see what others say. We're in the Bay Area (California) and trying to figure out if we can feel safe getting to the parks by plane or if I'm seriously considering driving 42 hours each way...

I can't speak from personal experience, but my cousin, her husband and daughter just flew from Chicago to California (SWA) this past weekend and she said it was fine. She said the airport was pretty empty and the flight only had 40 people on board, but other than that (and the requirement for masks), everything else was pretty normal.

Same boat, flying from San Diego in November. This is the only part of the trip that makes me nervous because I can't remove myself from the space, if that makes sense! I booked a nonstop flight and will wear an N95 mask. I opted for Alaska, as they had the best spacing policies, and because my husband flew Alaska for a family thing that came up two months ago, and he said it was flawless and felt very safe. Very best to you, fellow Left Coast-er!

Thank you for the replies! We will unfortunately probably not be able to go in Jan, but will shoot for Dec in 2021!

I flew last week on Southwest, San Jose to Ontario. Here are my observations:
1. TSA-very clean, lots of gloved workers-you can now bring a 12oz bottle of hand sanitizer as carry-on, but you have to have it in a separate zip-lock bag. TSA may or may not scan it (takes a few minutes).
2. Extremely limited services at the gates, and on flight. Bring your own food. Only water and pretzel mix offered on flight. That's okay for a short flight, but no good for two all day flights.
3. I bought Lysol wipes as well as the hand sanitizer. I wiped down my entire area, including the headrest of my seat, and the seats in front of me.

We just flew from Alaska to Texas and will continue on to Orlando in about a week (visiting our little granddaughter in Houston). We had no problems on the flights as middle seats are being blocked. The airports weren’t bad, but had more people waiting around than our prior flights in July. I think as long as there is good airflow in the planes and airports, you are relatively safe.
