Hi all

We are flying Continental in August and while I know that it is actually a Virgin flight I was wondering if anybody knows if we can use the VA Twighlight checkin at Gatwick even though Continental are handling our reservation?

Also on that matter, has anybody else had any bad experiences with Continental? I spent about an hour on Saturday on the telephone to them being passed around from person to person (I had the phone hung up on me twice) after they claimed (wrongly) that I had cancelled our reservation online. At one point one of their staff told me "it has happened, you'll just have to accept it" at which point I lost it just a tad, pointing out to them that I had no intention of simply accepting the lost of £2000 and my holiday without an almighty row. I think that everything has now been resolved and that our reservation has now been reinstated but it was certainly not an experience that I would want anybody else to have to go through.

That's worrying! We're flying out on the 9th August with Continental on a Codeshare ... how did you find out your flight had been cancelled?

I'm pretty sure this questions been asked before and we can use Twilight check-in, our seats are certainly showing on "Manage your Flights" so I guess we're classed the same as a Virgin booking ............ if someone knows better please let us know!

I was looking on the continental web site to see if there was a way to upgrade our seats and noticed that I was able to access their seat booker for our flights (which I was a bit surprised about so far in advance), I selected the required seats and pressed continue but got an error message. When I logged back in to try again my reservation was listed as being cancelled. The most worrying thing is that I did not get any notification and if I had not logged back in I wouldn't have been any the wiser, so conceivably the first thing I would have known about our reservation being cancelled would have been when we tried to check in at the airport.

Just out of curiosity how did you log into manage your flight on the Virgin website (ie did you use your Continental reference number?)

I've got a Virgin Frequent Flyer account, so when I booked the flights through Expedia I added my membership number to the booking and our flights were showing on the Virgin site instantly, we changed our seats within minutes of booking.

Open a frequent flyer account, if you haven't already got one, via the VA website then try calling Continental and ask them to add your membership number to your booking, you should then be able to view and update your seats, meals etc.
