Flying Canada to USA

How early do you go to the airport if you are leaving from a Canadian city to the United States? I thought it was 4 hrs, which I think is crazy.... someone said 2 hrs is plenty of time.

3 hrs is what youre told when issued your tickets. its usually not that busy, and we always have hrs to spare afterwards, but with all the new security screenings etc its better to be safe than sorry. 2 hrs is for domestic flights.

Three hours--and depending on how busy the airport is, you may find you need most of that time to get through customs and security these days.

I live in Ottawa and I have done two hours at least but 2.5-3...but it depends when you are flying..if you are flying early morning flights or friday night (same time as business fliers) than I try to be earlier.

Ottawa is a smaller airport than TO so that is just based on my experience and have made it in two hours...

We arrived at the airport( pearson) at 5 am for a 7 am flight to orlando in February on the family day weekend. We got to the gate at 6:30. This was a Saturday morning where there are many 6:30 flights out to the US.

There were people in the customs line behind us freaking out, as one said my flight is leaving in 7 mminutes. Our flight was boarding when we got there, but we still had time to get coffee and breakfast before gettting on the plane.

tks all, the flight I am looking at is 6:30 AM meaning I would have to be there 4am...my poor daughter she's 4 she'll want to sleep
