Flying Buffalo to MCO - WWYD: test in Orlando or Buffalo?

We are driving to Buffalo on Dec 19 for our flight with Southwest to Orlando. I understand at this point in time no Covid test is needed to cross the land border and board a domestic flight in the US. We will not be renting a car in Disney, and are flying back early on Dec 26, Orlando to Buffalo. Our car will be parked in Buffalo.
For the return Covid test, would you… take a taxi or Uber to Walgreens near Disney (probably on Dec 23) for our Covid test required to enter Canada (Dec 26 AM) or… do the test once in Buffalo before crossing the land border. I’m assuming that Buffalo Walgreens has the ID Now molecular test (I’ll look into it)…
We will likely test with rapid antigen home kits anyway before leaving Canada & once in WDW for our own peace of mind… but of course to come back we need that molecular test.

We'll be looking to test Dec 23rd as well for a Dec 25th border crossing. I don't think I'd leave it until right before crossing. Dec 24th would work better with your timeline, wouldn't it?

If we don’t stay in Buffalo after our late night flight, we will be crossing the land border to Canada early AM on Dec 26th. I should probably figure this out, Ha!
It‘s 72 hrs prior to either boarding the flight to Canada or crossing the land border, correct?

We're looking at a Dec 23rd AM test for a Dec 25th late afternoon/early evening crossing. That will put us right at about 60ish hours out from the test (12 hrs wiggle room in case we get delayed driving home due to weather etc.). This whole 72 hrs thing is a pain 😒

Sorry I added to my reply above, so it is 72 hrs… well if I’m calculating this properly, if we test in the afternoon on Dec 23, then 72 hrs will be afternoon on Dec 26th. Meaning we’d have to cross by the land border by then… ? I think… lol Sure is a pain

Since you will have your car in Buffalo I'd do it once you land.
Trying to figure this out… it would be easier in a way, we wouldn’t have to take time out of our vacation and take a cab through walgreens drive-thru. On the other hand, I would feel better having those tests on Dec 23 v. 26th… if we decide to test in Buffalo, we will have to stay up to half a day extra there, test in the morning on Dec 26, then drive to Canada after we get our result. There are definite advantages to both. I’m also thinking we can’t upload anything to ArriveCan until we have our results.

This is our plan (currently) for a Detroit return. We land at DTW around 6:30pm so are just going to stay overnight at a nearby hotel. Then, I will be booking a time for a drive-thru Walgreens test for 9am, then we'll go back to the hotel to relax. Hopefully by the time we check out and drive up to Port Huron, the test results will have arrived.

I’m really going back and forth… if test in Orlando, we won’t stay overnight in Buffalo, but we spend $ on a cab to Walgreens. Aah, I just don’t know!
haha

Orlando seemed to have more testing options when I looked into this. It also gave me more options if results were delayed etc. If your result was delayed in Buffalo you are sitting around Buffalo for awhile.

What time do you land?

If you rather just have it done and out of the way then perhaps Uber/lyft to a Walgreens in Florida would be the easier option.
We land around midnight I think, so we’d have to stay the night (which we are thinking of doing anyway but undecided) then test first thing in the AM.
I’m now reading and thinking about the replies and I think testing in Orlando will give me a greater peace of mind. We’ll have it behind us on the 23rd, instead of waiting 3 more days.

We are trying to decide the same thig for our trip in January. Much more convenient in Buffalo with our own car but on the other hand nice to have the test out of the way in Orlando.

Not to be a pessimist but if you test positive in Orlando you can't fly home until you do your 14 days quarantine. If you test positive in Buffalo, can you just cross the border and quarantine at home?
Yes, that’s a big consideration and a plus for testing in Buffalo.
On the other hand, in Orlando we would be testing 3 -3.5 days (roughly) into our vacation and so chance is lower we test positive in Orlando than 6 days into our vacation in Buffalo? I’m not sure.
If we were to test positive in Orlando, I was thinking of renting a car and dropping it off in Buffalo, then driving across. From what I understand that’s a possibility?
