When flying from the US to Canada (and vice versa), are you allowed to bring food? I haven't done the whole "customs" thing before, as I have never been out of the country. Is fruit permitted on the airplane? Is there anything that we should leave at home? I'm familiar with the 3-1-1 rule, as we fly domestically a lot. The reason I'm concerned is because we have many food allergies and I know it's going to be a long haul flight!! Finding items we can eat in the the airport isn't very easy for us.

From leaving Vancouver last year I know you will not be permitted to bring fruit into the US. You may want to stick with packaged, sealed items and not bring fresh food.

As TDCNala mentioned, US custom do have issues with fruits & vegetables (but not the airline). The rules are the same whether your cross the border by car, plane, ... On your way to WDW, most likely, you will pre-clear US immigration at your Canadian airport if you fly from a big city, which means you have to "cross the border" with the fruits to east them on the plane!

You can still bring stuff, just follow these guidelines to limit the chance of problems:

- declare them!
- do NOT bring citrus fruits, they have big issues with those
- it's better to have stuff labelled with country of origin (eg. stickers on you apples), so they don't throw away your cherries if they have something against cherries from XX country.

If you want the complete info from the official US border protection:
Plant Matter into USA

When coming back, you can eat your stuff on the plane, et voilà!, no more fruit to import in Canada, it's in your stomach! However, it's generally easier to bring stuff back here.
