Flyglobespan have just changed my flight times again :headache:

I originally booked because it was direct from glasgow (we live 5mins away) and pretty cheap - seemed like a good deal.

Few months later they changed the flight times, so we were landing in ireland for an hr or so while they pick up more people and we arent allowed of the plane. This was only on the outgoing flight. Ok so I'm not too happy but its a bugdet airline so I cant say much. :rolleyes1

Then it changed again to stop on the incoming flight.:upsidedow. So I was annoyed as its messed up my planning. Re-organised everything I needed to organise assuming that would be the end of it and now its changed again!......   :sad1:

Now not only are all my times for car hire and everything screwed up the taxis I had organised to take us to the airport are wrong as they have changed the take-off and landing times. :badpc:

The flights are now also 10.5hrs! .....A flight which was meant to be direct! :sad1: 10.5hrs sat in the same seat, fab! I can get to San Francisco to visit family with a stop off in 13hrs and its on the other side of the country! :bored:

I'm not happy. I'm never using them again no matter how cheap they appear to be! By the time you pay for extra baggage allowance etc its not that cheap anyway. I feel like cattle class is a statement which is quite fitting, thats how the service so far has made me feel and ive not even got on there plane yet.

Everyone complains about TCD, I had a wonderful experience with them last year and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Flyglobespan - no thanks more hastle than its worth!

Sorry for the rant I just had to get that off my chest! :wizard:

Laura,

Sorry to hear your news :( . I'm starting to get nervous too now. We're booked for the end of June and I had been hoping (or kidding myself on maybe) that because this was peak period our flights would be unaffected.

However, the latest timetable changes are gobsmacking. Note that flights on Saturday 5th, 12th and 19th May don't now depart until 18:45, a mere 9 hrs 15 minutes later than originally scheduled! They don't arrive at Sanford until 22:45 and I'm not sure if the car hire desks are even open at that time.

Now call me cynical, but It seems to me that Globespan are holding off giving out their bad news about timetable changes until they get within the 70 day window and all the affected customers have already paid in full. Think I'm being paranoid? Look carefully at the outgoing timetable - its all over the place until May 26th when it settles down to the"normal" schedule. And to save you all having to count, May 26th is 64 days away...

Bottom line for me is that my balance is due on April 15th and I'll need to think very carefully over then next week what to do...

I think you could possibly be right, my balance was paid towards the end of feb and I have had 2 changes since then :sad2: I really hope you have more luck than I have had!

We ended up cancelling our flights with Globespan for October. It meant losing our deposit. We too were going to be stuck in Ireland for 2 hours which meant an already long flight was so much longer.

In the end we booked with BA. The only reason we booked with Globespan was so that we could fly directly from Glasgow. Now we fly from Glasgow to Gatwick then Gatwick to Orlando. Just about the same travel time as with Globespan but at least I know that BA are not going to divert us to somewhere else.

Particularly bad on the way back, because your breakfast will be served an hour or so out of Ireland. You will all have to have your seatbacks upright for touchdown and take-off from Ireland and then touch down again in Glasgow - so it will definitely disturb any sleep that you can get... and you will have an uncomfortable hour on the tarmac in Ireland. Don't know about you, but (if I fly economy) I tend to feel uncomfortable, grumpy and horrible enough at the end of a long red-eye flight without an additional stop along the way... :(

Boo

I'm the same.

We were flying Business with Globespan and I still wan unwilling to put up with the disruption on the flight.

Lobey,
As its such a big change cannot you cancel and get your money back if you wanted to?

Nope unfortunately not as it says in the terms and conditions that they reserve the right to ammend flight times and introduce stops.

Im stuck, I will just have to put up with it now as its far too much money to cancel but hopefully its a bit of a heads up for those of you who still have time to change.

Rant away all you like, you have every justification and the only good thing is that at least you have forewarned people of the trouble they may experience. It is terrible to be messed around like that. Still the main thing to concentrate on is the fantastic time you will have in Orlando.:)

I remember one of the first times we flew to florida it was a flight that stopped first in Bangor Maine for us all to trrop off and go through customs, then back on and down to Orlando. this made the journey long and tireing.

I would check with Holidaytruths.co.uk if that is enforcable, as I thought there was a limit to the time delay between the original time and the revised time. I know that when tUI have doe it to us on flights to Malaga, they have given us the option to cancel with a full refund.

Poor you Laura:headache:
It's so awful when you plan your hols only for the airline to mess you around!
I guess we were one of the lucky ones when we flew with globespan last year and had no probs and great service, that said it was before they started making stop overs in Ireland ;)
Hope it all works out for you in the end:grouphug:

Thanks for this...unfortunately because we fly out in a month I cant get us on any other flights for a reasonable price so even if I could cancel its not going to help me. :rolleyes1 Oh well Im not going to let some dumb airline ruin my disney holiday! Just hope the rest of you manage to avoid my nightmare!:grouphug:

Just grit your teeth and it will soon be over Laura (Ooh err missus! )then you will be at WDW and the flight will be a distant memory

try and put it behind you Laura, I know easier said than done, get a couple of good books and that might help the time a wee bit.

have a fab time

I do appreciate the disruption to those Globespan travellers who are flying from Glasgow and stopping in Belfast, but please have some thought for those of who live in Northern Ireland and up to now have always had to travel, at great extra expense and time, to the mainland in order to pick up a flight to Orlando. This will be the first year we have been able to fly direct from Belfast, and we do accept that in order to do so, some of our Scottish cousins will have to put up with a little delay. I can assure you, if we have any say in the matter, the stop-over in Belfast will be a quick as possible. I, for one, will be trying to get boarded as soon as I can in order to enjoy the start of my holiday.
Of course, we know we wll get the better part of the deal, as our flight this year will be much shorter than previous years, thanks to no longer having to travel to the mainland before connecting to the trans-atlantic flight.
You may have a short stop-over in Belfast, but every year we have gone to florida, we have had to get up in the early hours to travel to Belfast airport at least 1-hour before taking a 1.5 hour flight to London which arrives in time for us to pick up our bags and rush to the check in desk to arrive 2-3 hours before the flight to Orlando. By the time most of you 'mainlanders' arrive at the airport, we have already been travelling for many hours. Also, on the return journey, in order to cater for any potential delays on the trans-atlantic flight, we have always had to book our return flight from London to Belfast quite a few hours after the scheduled landing time. This has meant hanging around Gatwick for 4-5 hours with very tired kids who just want to get home - instead they have to endure another queue for check-in, another wait in another departure lounge, another flight, another wait to pick up bags in Belfast and a long drive home.
We all look forward to our holidays, please don't make the Northern Ireland travellers feel in any way guilty about the small disruption to the Glasgow flight. I would hate to think there will be any bad feeling between ourselves and our fellow travellers when we board in Belfast.:thanks:
