I am really very torn on what to do and thought to consult the experts on the DIS.

I have $488 in SW credit. I need 3 ticket that would be an additional $400 to purchase when combined with my credit.

Driving would cost $262 for fuel based on 1780 miles at 20 mpg and $3.00 per gallon. It would have to be two days driving there as I have SN son. I can get home in one day if I leave very very early.

Ok, time vs money...what would you do? HELP!

If it were me I would fly. Heck we live 6 hours away and fly. To me my time is more important. If the cost is an issue I generally cut my cost elsewhere so I can afford to fly. Don't forget to factor in hotel cost for the two days it would take you to get there and taxi/shuttle cost if you were to fly.

If it is going to take you two days to get there and two days to get back, did you factor in the cost of a hotel for those nights?

Friends, Thanks, DH also said spend the money and fly. This quick little get away is getting expensive but worth the money.

I think we would go crazy stuck in Star Valley Wyoming for a week with no help at all and nothing to do. It is mud season and having the little guy outside is just that, muddy.

I best get on SW now for our Monday flights. My first trip to DL, here we come:banana:

If it were only 1 day driving I would say drive, but I think 2 days in the car is just too much. Especially if you have kids.

Not sure if this will make a difference but in CA you can probably plan on $3.20-$3.25 per gallon.

If your name means what I think it does, we're neighbors! I practically live next door to you in Auburn. Howdy Neighbor!

We've done both. We've driven straight through (about 24 hrs.) and we've taken our time..(2 days) If you had the time and were going during the summer, there's nothing like traveling down HWY 101 and taking in the Redwoods, Sea Lion Caves, Game Farm Park...etc. But if time is not on your side, then flying is the only way to go.

By the time the plane gets leveled off and you've been served your snack, it's almost time to start coming back down again in sunny California. 24 hours vs. 2 1/2 hours. Arrive in Calf. tired vs. not tired and ready to head for the parks.

Oops! Sounds like you don't live near me after all. (Tacoma is a city near me..that's where I got the idea we were neighbors) Sorry about that.

Not neighbors but Hi! I named my ranch after my first mustang, Tacoma, hence the name tacoma ranch.

I did purchase the tickets for SW last nite and now have to work out how the ME and our luggage.

I think with our DS, the price of fuel and the time, flying is the better choice. This little get away is getting very expensive but fun!

I think you made the right choice, especially when you will be exhausted after your trip and will not want to drive for an extended amount of time. We live in Western Nebraska and drive to Denver to fly out. That 5 hour drive home from Denver nearly kills us after go, go, going for days at DL. Have fun!!!:yay:

The diff for the 6 of us has always been about 1200-1500 to fly opposed to the 2600 mile RT. I would rather use $$ to buy other things that we always bring the family memories. It all depends where you want to spend your money.

I agree! After the credits you are only spending $140 more than driving and that was with no hotel included for the trip there!!

You made the right choice! It's almost time. By flying were you able to add on an extra 1/2 or full day to be at the parks??
