Fly from Bangor or Drive all the Way?

Just curious, I've never flown from anywhere but YHZ, but very tempted to do Bangor next time... I assume they have long term parking at the airport?

I'm used to driving overnight, and if I got, say, an early morning flight like 6:25am I might just leave Halifax the evening before. The kids sleep in the car just fine, and I could catch up on the plane. It also opens up a possibility of leaving, say, Friday morning since DW doesn't work Fridays. It would be much easier than the overnight we do to Ottawa, say 1/2 as much.

They do have long term parking but i would not recommend using it during the winter as i have seen cars barred in snowbanks at the airport in Bangor also quite often you can get a hotel in Bangor with free parking for less than what it would cost to park at the airport long term parking is $7.00 a day $ 42.00 a week

Yes, the airport parking is $42 per week. And we're looking at $190US for the Four Points (eek!!!) But we're gone two full weeks and I don't want the hassle of getting to an offsite lot to get my car, so we can land at 1pm and just get in the car and head home.

If I look at the $84 we'd pay for two weeks parking at the airport, plus the cost of a hotel, it's not far off the price we'll pay for the Four Points. And it should be exciting for the kids if they can watch the planes landing and departing.

We are also in need of a stopover hotel in BGR again.

I'm just curious though - does the Sheraton now include parking in it's rate? Or do you have to pay the $7 a day plus the hotel?

The rate of $190 USD includes up to two weeks free parking. So if you figure you would pay $42 a week for parking (and you're gone two weeks like me) then that's $84 so you paid $106 for your room and the convenience of being at the airport before your trip and walking off the plane and right to your car.
