Fly Drive

Hi- im looking into booking a fly drive to orlando for october 2005-does anyone have any suggestions which airline to use-wouldnt mind flying from birmingham but others would be ok.Also any suggestions where we could hire a villa that maybe within walking distance to sops/bars/restaurants-we like the look of one in highlands reserve but not sure yet.Cant wait to get back to orlando after having the best time in 2003.

There are very few villa locations that are within walking distance to anything! Highlands Reserve is beautiful and I would highly recommend it. There is a Publix next door to the complex, but I wouldnt want to walk to it.....too hot for one!!

If you want to be as close as possible to restaurants, then Formosa Gdns is probably a good bet. You would probably have a 15-20 min walk to the nearest complex. Other options would be a condo apartment as they tend to be a little nearer to "civilisation"!!!

There is a new airline that might be up and running from Birmingham next year. Its called Flyblu and there have been a few threads about it recently. Not sure exactly when they intend to start operating though.

We booked flights last August from Travel City Direct. They were the cheapest I could find for direct flights. We had NO problems with them at all.

The villa I booked through a local (to us) villa company & we were delighted with It. We def wanted to know where our villa was & not be allocated on arrival.

We got a better deal on car hire with insurance, from the villa company than from TCD.

The villa was situated at Wyndam Palms which I could def. recommend & at a push it was within walking distance to shops etc. But we never walked!!!!!!!!!

Hiya,

I live in Brum, but prefer Virgin Atlantic.
Until they get sorted out at BHX we travel to Manchester to fly.
This is OK as we can drive, leave the car stay overnight (for about £100) then check in and go back to the hotel for breakie, then head over for the flight!
Went to NY from BHX last year had a nightmare getting there, even this close!! So may pay to stay a night - and what better start to your holiday!
