Spent all night coughing and breathing has been worse overnight so went to the nurse this morning to find out what she thought. I have an upper respiratory infection but it is viral not bacterial so antibiotics (which I am not a fan of anyway) wouldn't make a difference . She said I have got to go to Florida anyway and enjoy myself, the sun and change in air, relaxation would probably make me better than staying at home would.

These things just take their own sweet time to get better I'm afraid... I had an infection two Christmases ago... took MONTHS to go away fully (although I felt much better after about 2-3 weeks).

If the medical people say you'll be OK, then go for it! Just don't push yourself too hard when you're there, and make sure you have something on the plane with you to relieve nasal etc congestion. The pressure changes as you take off and especially land can be really sore if you're choked up! :scared1: The airline steward/esses usually have something if you get really stuck.

Hope you still manage to have a fabulous holiday!! :goodvibes:hug:

Aw thank you :goodvibes! I am taking Sudafed and ear plugs, paracetamol, ibuprofen, simple linctus and loads of vitamins with me on the plane. Really hope it goes away quickly and I am feeling tip top soon!

Poor you, what terrible timing....

Hope you are feeling much better VERY soon :goodvibes

Ali :goodvibes

Hope your feeling better soon, and the viral infection clears up quickly, the sunshine will do you good!:goodvibes
we went to New York and Florida a few yrs ago over xmas and from day one I was so ill with a really bad bout of flu.

Sounds a lot like what I have at the moment and if my trip was soon I would absolutely still be going anyway ;) I had a horrible cold before our 2007 trip but it turned out the humidity was just the ticket and it cleared up in no time, hopefully it'll help you too, enjoy!! :goodvibes
