Planes are the germiest place I know. Not only would I get a flu shot I would bring antibacterial wipes and antibacterial hand lotion. Maybe even a paper mask which I would put on if I heard anyone cough or sneeze.

Not really true - it's totally individual as to whether you'll have a reaction or not. DH has had a reaction nearly every time he's gotten the shot, and he does not have any allergies.

That being said, for OP, if you've gotten the shot in the past with no reaction then you'd probably be fine. I'd get it just to be safe.

All I know is that when I went for my flu shot at work, the nurse had us sign something stating we weren't allergic to eggs and told a coworker that if she said yes, she could not give her the shot. I am not saying that a person won't have a reaction to the shot because I know it's been reported that people have had reactions to it. Anyone can have a reaction to pretty much anything. I know someone who had a reaction to shrimp as an adult and now has to carry an Epi pen because she developed a late in life reaction to shell fish.

We take wipes and hand lotion, they're handy to take everywhere. I draw the line at wearing a mask though lol.

I'm not doubting the egg allergy thing, I'm sure that's true. I was just clarifying because your post implied that anyone not allergic to eggs would be fine with the shot which isn't necessarily the case.

I just got the flu shot yesterday at work. I'm flying to Disneyland next week and I will bring wipes. I may bring a mask as last time I flew, the woman in the aisle seat in front of me was coughing her lungs out, I would've put on a mask if I had one.

Is it worth us getting the flu shot before we come over? I missed out on having it this year as was sick when I was suppose to get it, then forgot about it afterwards. How germy is the States at the moment?

I have travel insurance that is pretty extensive but having to find a GP and possibly a chemist when away from home will irritate me no end.

My GP has left it up to me to decide, which isn't a good thing this week - I can barely decide what shoes to wear daily.

Yeah, breaking my own rule here :rolleyes1

Thanks.

I've never gotten a flu shot.

I don't think rum prevents influenza.
