Flu Shot Shortage?

I was all set to go get my flu shot at a nearby Publix. Now, they are saying there is a shortage. Publix and many other places have cancelled the flu shot event. What? Why does this happen every year? I used to be able to get a flu shot. Frustrating!

Are there shortages in other parts of the country?

I got mine yesterday in RI and there wer no restriction..Anyine over the age of 9 who wanted one could have one

From what I've read there's been a delay in the shipments of the vaccine. It's not exactly the kind of shortage we had last year; it's a different problem. Supposedly they're coming; they're just not here yet

My dad had his done at Costco a few weeks ago and he stood in line for over 2 hours. He was told that there was a shortage. Not sure if it is a supply problem, as mentioned above, or just more people are getting it because of the "avian flu" reports.

But as far as I know, there are no restrictions on it.

All 4 of us got w/out any problem 2 weeks ago.

We got ours at the health dept. last week and didn't have to wait at all. We asked and she said they have plenty and probably won't run out.

I guess maybe it depends on the size town you live in (ours is very small). ?

I got mine a week ago Saturday at CVS. When I first checked with them, the flu clinic was going to be restricted to high risk patients like last year. I kept checking with my doctor's office and they kept saying they hadn't received their supply and didn't know when they would. So, I called CVS back a day or two before their clinic and they said they had enough to give to anybody that wanted a shot. I got there as soon as they opened and was able to get it. I'm just glad I called back the second time because it seems like it may not be as easy to get a shot this year as I first heard.

My DDs got theirs at the pediatricians almost 4 weeks ago, and my DHs college started shots 2 1/2 weeks ago, but my Dr. office hasn't rec'd any yet. . .they are definitely cancelling a lot of clinics around here. . .??? Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to which facilities got it and which didn't.

Yep, we were supposed to have our flu shot clinic here at work on Tuesday and they informed us late Monday that they hadn't received the vaccine.

My DH got one a week ago, I just got mine an hour ago and my DD is scheduled for one next week. No shortages have been mentioned yet here.

I got mine last week at the local Walgreen's. Need to call to schedule DDs at pediatrician's office soon. Don't want anyone to be sick for our big trip!!!!
