Flowers at France Pavilion?

Chip and Co. also reported on the floral tributes. In the comments area, it was reported the CMs in the France Pavilion chose to have the flowers moved backstage for a private memorial.

I believe it's best for the CMs. They should be able to reflect and grieve privately rather than be in an open area amongst guests.

How do y'all feel about the flowers being brought backstage? I'm personally okay with it- I understand why Disney doesn't want the entire pavilion to be a reminder of something tragic, since it's supposed to be an escape. I know some are offended, though.
I understand. It sounds like it could be a nice memorial for the French CM's.

A note to include with the flowers - if you are visiting, do watch what you say. As kind as it may be to offer your condolences, remember that the cast members are working and have to keep their emotions in check while onstage - which can be difficult enough without the tragedy being brought up again and again.

Just a thought.

I would hope that Disney would understand the need for a CM to be excused to go backstage to pull herself/himself together. Or even man the pavilion with non-French CMs for a few days?

I have no objection to it. I know some people are upset with it according to other sites but it should be moved for no other reason but the crowds and the potential size it could become. If it becomes too large and impeded traffic, I would anticipate un-thoughtful guests would start to step on it and create tense situations.

Plus, what is the purpose of it - I believe to remember what happened and provide people a chance to mourn. The people likely most impacted by this at Epcot are the CM's working the pavilion, they can't mourn in character while on stage.

My 2 cents.

Oh, I'm more than certain Disney, and more directly the managers of the pavilion and EPCOT, are more than understanding in this situation - I know that the College Program service centers are offering free international calls for the French ICP's that are staying in the complexes.

And while it's likely that they are going to allow CM's to be excused if necessary, it can also mentally draining for them (or anyone in a traumatic scenario) to be reminded about it constantly. If you'd like to express your condolences, I'm sure it would be alright. Just keep it in the back of your head and remember that simply being kind and demonstrating patience is also a good way to make their day a little easier.

Last Bastille Day,Disney lit the area in France by the Lagoon with the colors of France.

I think that would have been a nice remembrance to do last night.

(Without any DHS fireworks in the background of course)

I also understand that France's "IllumiNations Torch" is being lit continuously.

DLP entertainment CMs have gone into work to provide entertainment and atmosphere in the DLP resort hotels for guests who are not venturing out at this time.

Disney is also lighting the Empire State Building at the Streets of America in France's colors-well done.

I understand some are upset that the memorial was set up backstage. I don't see why. It's for the CMs after all, not for the guests.

I read that someone was also not happy that a French cast member wouldn't talk to them about Paris, apparently assuming that Disney told them not to talk about it. They are onstage and trying to work, maybe they don't want to talk about it themselves.

they don't necessarily want or need to have the day off, so I don't see the point in telling all the French CMs to not report - some of them may have wanted to. On 9/12/15 in DC everyone I know went to work. I do know there were some that stayed home but nobody in my office did. We needed to get back out there. I am sure that if anyone needed the day off they got it.
