I saw in a facebook group that some people are encouraging guests to Epcot to place flowers at the France Pavilion today. Not sure who is there or if Disney would want this but interested in knowing your thoughts.

I doubt Disney would want this or allow this. But I am curious to know what (if anything) will happen at the France pavilion today.

I have no idea how Disney will handle this, but my heart is breaking for Paris and those who have been hamed.

How did they handle things after 9/11? Did they allow memorials inside the parks or elsewhere on property?

This has been going pretty viral among Disney travel groups on social media. I think it will be beautiful should everyone come through.

My sister in law is there now, and I guess she saw flowers in front of the France pavilion when she was there. I saw a picture of it, as well. As long as it's not a huge memorial that creates a safety/tripping hazard, I don't see why they wouldn't allow it for a few days.

I agree, it would be beautiful. We were in the parks the day Nelson Mandela died. As soon as we arrived to AK and saw the flag at half-staff, I knew the significance before even hearing the news. We didn't see any floral tributes.

Is there a flag that flies at the France Pavilion?

I think people will do this. I was watching the news last night and shortly after everything went down people started leaving flowers at the France Consulate in Boston or New York, can't remember which. I think people want to connect to the people of France but don't know what to do or how to channel their emotions. So they do this small gesture to feel united.

Did they start last night? I just realized you posted this before opening time today.

I know flowers are being left in Boston, not sure about NYC. I hope WDW lets a small memorial appear, just to give the CMs working in the France Pavilion some support. I also hope WDW lets those workers that need to have some time off to process what has happened/get help, etc.

I read on social media that lots of people are bringing flowers but they are being placed in a memorial backstage.

This is not my picture, just one I saw:

How do y'all feel about the flowers being brought backstage? I'm personally okay with it- I understand why Disney doesn't want the entire pavilion to be a reminder of something tragic, since it's supposed to be an escape. I know some are offended, though.

My understanding is that the memorial was moved backstage so the French CMs at EPCOT are allowed to mourn in peace. It has nothing to do with the guests and everything to do with the well being and needs of the French Cast Members. Since they're not allowed to "break character" this seems the most fitting way to handing things.
