I didn't go to see the Guess Who appearance at the Flower Power series. Could someone please tell me about it- I don't think Burton Cummings was there? Who was singing lead? How did they sound and what songs did they do?

Thanks...

I had a few margaritas under my belt at the time, but here's a bit of what I remember. No, unfortunately, Burton wasn't there. But the guy who sang lead vocals - forget his name - was good. They did the big hits - Undun, Laughin, These Eyes and closed with American Woman. My BIL could tell you more as he is more musically knowledgeable than I am. Good boomer crowd. We also saw the Rascals while we were there - good show. The concerts were definite highlights of the trip.

Neither Cummings or Randy Bachman will tour with The Guess Who, due to bandmember Jim Kale. He registered the bands name on his own, and the other two aren't allowed to use the name. Cummings and Bachman are touring together as Bachman and Cummings.
The singer was probably either Leonard Shaw or Carl Dixon.

Does anyone have any pictures from the concerts? If so please post. Thanks

I got to see one show. It was a highlight of my trip too! I remembered they did American Woman but had forgotten the other hits--These Eyes, Undone, Laughin. Nice long drum solos and guitar rifts.

I thought they were great! I don't think I ever learned the names of the band members--just wasn't into it but I thought it sounded like the same singer from the original recordings. If it wasn't, he does a great impersonation. He had long, blond, curly hair, looked good.

Reminded me I had a cassette of them and now I need to go find a DVD!

Lot of fun and good chance to embarass my daughter!

We've done Flower Power for years now and I was not that thrilled with what we had for Memorial Day weekend.

Until we got there. The Guess Who rocked! We've seen so many groups at Disney World with this experience and the Eat to the Beat series. My husband (after I read the previous posts to him) said "it was THE best group I've ever seen - not the most exciting but the best".

I have to agree. No, it wasn't the original lead vocalist but we both said that he was a great alternative. Don't know who he was, don't care because we had a full evening of great entertainment.

I really have been surprised with the level of performance with who Disney World gets in for the Flower and Garden Festival and then the Food & Wine Festival. I'm about ready to book our late September trip just to see Survivor.

The concert was great! We had a really good time! I was glad we got to see them.

That's Carl Dixon. He joined the Guess Who in the late-90's.

OK disnut8- I hope you are satisfied! Now I wish I would have gone over to see them. Still can't believe a band calls themselves "Guess Who" without Cummings or Bachman.

Here are my mini-reviews of the groups I saw this year in the series:

The Nelsons were enjoyable but did none of their own material.
Buckinghams were excellent. First time I've seen them and they were a delightful surprise!
Gary Pucket was, as always, incredible and did three different sets per night, including a little "doo wop"!
Association pleasant but lack the voices to recreate the harmony structures that made the original hits. You've only got one set guys?
The Tokens put on a great show. A good blend of the old stuff but with new stuff too. I bought two of their newer cd's at the kiosk!
B J Thomas performed the hit songs as contracted. I left after one set.
Felix Cavaliere and his B3 just proved he is a master of blue eyed soul rock n roll.
The Turtles still won't do my favorite Turtle hit "My Girl" because Howard says that "Disney wouldn't like the drug reference". WHAT? Maybe he can't hit the notes any longer?

My award for this years Flower Power concerts goes to... envelope please...

The TOKENS!

Now I'm looking forward to the tribute band series this summer and then on to "Eat to the Beat" and the Food and Wine! See you there guys!!!

Jim Kale and Garry Peterson were the first to join the band in the sixties with Bachman. They have more right to the name than any of them and also may I add that Jim Kale owns the right to the name. They also sound much better than Cummings or Bachman ever will. Even though Cummings and Bachman wrote most of the lyrics to their songs you will find that they sound better than ever. :sunny:

I saw them at Epcot and am guessing that the bass player and the drummer were the two original members.Which one was Jim Kale? Thanks.
