I don't know where to put this, since the thread I discovered in the Restaurants/Food subforum was shut down. I'd just love to talk speculation about if they'll extend Flower & Garden, so maybe Rumors is the right spot for it! What do you all think? I was supposed to go in March & again in May, because it's my favorite festival. Do you think the flowers & stuff will survive the Florida summer heat if they do decide to extend it? Do you think it's just going to get scrapped for the year? Do you think Epcot won't open up anyway with the rest of WDW so it's a moot point? Talk to me!

I was there for opening day this year. It's always fun to be in the spring feeling that early in the year. I'd imagine it would be hard to plan to extend it logistically.
Not only that but what about social distancing measures that will probably still in place?

They are maintaining the topiaries still judging by a photo/post with the president of WDW in it. I wouldn't expect the booths and events to be there but hopefully the flowers and character topiaries will be. Other theme parks have those year round; it's just a matter of maintaining them. We didn't make it before the parks closed. :(

Edit: Though I could see them running the merch booths to try to sell more of that stuff!

The simple solution is everyone is required to wear one of these:

Every time I see this I love it!! I work at the CDC so it's been nothing but sadness in my days lately. Though a hoop skirt will make it hard to get onto rides, haha!

To be honest I would probably still buy the merch if they're selling it!

I just want the AP magnets. Got my Donald magnet as we went opening day of the festival, but I was really looking forward to the Orange Bird magnet.

Me too! I'm thinking they'll just give those out til they run out- what's the point in throwing them away?

It’s irrelevant, as Epcot will be the last park to reopen. All those foreign workers in Worldshowcase are on a scheduled rotation and I suspect that park is the hardest one to re-staff following Corona Palooza. I don’t expect to see Epcot open before Thanksgiving — and likely not until 2021 sometime. But, I’m maybe a pessimist today...

I am not sure if anything opens its even going to be fun for a long while with all these proposed changes.

Not all of the CMs in World Showcase are on rotations. Many of them came from their home countries and now live in FL so this is their full time job for many many years. But yes, some of them are on a rotation and I agree that is going to be a hard role to fill.

Yes! Right now they're just hanging onto them, so I'm hopeful they'll at least hand them out once any of the parks open haha.

I can't imagine that they will extend the festival because if the closures go on into late summer the flowers won't be in bloom or at best will seem out of place. I could see them possibly maintaining the topiaries (sp?) for longer if it's even possible. I have no green thumb so I don't know the extent of how long those plants tend to survive but you would think after all that hard work they would want people to be able to enjoy it at least for a bit. I think they might let the flowers bloom for as long as they will but maybe not have the booths and special stuff associated with the festival. You KNOW they'll still have the merchandise available in every store. Maybe on clearance, but it will be there. They lost their rear ends on that aspect. I imagine we'll be seeing that sale for years to come lol
