Could use some help with these 2 new DCA restaurants.

Both DH & DS are super picky eaters! We will be in DCA for 1 meal only and I want to make it a good one! Both Flo's V8 Cafe & Fiddler, Fifer & Practical look great.

Here's my questions:

At Flo's- can you order just the sides?? We always buy 2 entree's to split between the 3 of us and I would like to be able to do this here. However, DS is currently eating anything & everything in site! So I'm thinking we may have to order him an extra side, since he's currently a lean mean eating machine. I'm thinking just a side of mashed potatoes. However, I was also wondering if we could order a side of the mac & cheese instead of one of the other sides. The plates come with the entree, choice of 2 sides and a roll. Can we sub one of the sides for mac & cheese??

And at Fiddler- anyone have a good menu? DIS boards doesn't have one up yet. I did find one on another site but it's very limited & was mainly all about the drinks. I'm wondering what options they have for kids?

Thanks!

Thx- I did see the menu for Flo's. Was hoping to find out more about if I could easily substitute items there. And of course what kid's options they have at Fiddler, Fifer & Practical. The menu for FF&P just lists sandwiches that honestly- I can't imagine many children eating. Certainly not mine.;)

As far as I know, FFP does not have a children's menu. There are Starbucks baked goods and Disney baked goods, but if you want an actual kid's meal with protein, this probably isn't the best venue choice.
I don't know the answer to your mac'n'cheese question, but it doesn't hurt just to ask when you order. We've never encountered a problem at DLR with the substitutions issue, as long as we make it clear at the start that we're willing to pay the difference or the higher price, whichever is relevant to the situation.

The kids meal at FFP's is the Kid's Power Pack with yogart, string cheese, crackers. It is not on the menu but is in the pastry case.

Most if not all places will allow you to either make substitution or order just sides. My daughter got fruit in place of eggs at Flo's a couple weeks ago.

I've never been to Flo's but I did read elsewhere that someone was able to substitute mac n' cheese for one of their sides, even though that technically wasn't listed as a side.

I'd be shocked if you couldn't order extra sides, too. Can't say it's impossible, but I'd be truly shocked if you couldn't.

If I were having JUST one meal in DCA, I don't think I'd try Fiddler, Fifer and Practical. It does look neat, but to me the food options don't look much different than you'd get anywhere else. There are just so many nice places to eat in DCA now, that one would be lower on my list.

Have a great trip!

We enjoyed Flo's. You can order mac & cheese as a side. I think mac & cheese as a side was discussed on the Dis podcast back in June. When I asked a CM about it when waiting in line at Flo's, she said that even though it's not on the menu, they serve a lot of mac & cheese as sides since guests have been asking for it from Day 1. We did not try to order extra sides, but I would be surprised if you couldn't. Just ask and see what happens. If they won't let you order an extra side, then just get the mac & cheese kid's meal in addition to your two adult meals. I believe the kid's portion is about the same size as the side portion.

F,F&P's selections looked very similar to those at Jolly Holiday Bakery but with the addition of some Starbuck's items.

When we in the parks two weeks ago I found it really depended on the person whether they would substitute menu items or not at various places. It could be the same place on the same day and one would and one would not. For what it's worth we didn't have a problem substituting one side for another at Flo's.

This. The kids meal is only $6 too I think. It's a very good bargain IMO. You get the Mac n Cheese, plus fruit and vegetable.

Mac and Cheese kids meal at Flo's is $6.99. Add $5 and the meal is served inside a Lightening McQueen box. I believe it's the same box they use for popcorns.
