Me: Sue 43 Born Worrier and Trip Leader.
DD: Vicki 15 2nd In Command, But the Real Leader according to her

Sunday 21st August 2005

Well Vicki and I had agreed the night before that we would have a lazy today today as it had been non stop since we got here,so curtains drawn tight, do not disturb sign in, alarm off, visions of sleeping in until at least 10am, bliss.....all a complete waste of time, as at 7am exactly we were rudely awaken by a loud knock at the door, only to be met by a very confused looking lady when she saw me, she was carrying a tray of breakfast goodies. "Oh My" I thought, somebody has ordered us breakfast in bed, no not to be, just a very apolagetic woman saying sorry she had got off the wrong floor from the elevator and was expecting her husband to answer. Off she went, not even leaving me a breakfast bagal, how rude lol. I thought to myself how can you possibly get the wrong room, silly woman....only to do the exact same thing myself 3 nights later at 11.45pm when I was expecting Vicki to answer the door after I had got off at floor 3 instead of ours with a tray laden down with our supper, only to be greeted by a half naked man(thought my luck had changed ). Note to self, check door numbers BEFORE knocking.

Anyway try as we might, we could not get back to sleep so got up and changed and went to the food court for our favorite Pop Platter(you can tell already, the breakfast ceral bars I had bought at Walmart, were just not doing it)

We then decided to have a full look around the resort, now when they say this is a big resort they are not kidding(whoever they might be?), first we went to the back of the buildings by the lake, you can still see the blocks of the other Pop they are building, which looks like a ghost town. If they wanted my advice and I'm sure they dont, but I would knock it down and build more bus stops, I'm sure it would be quicker for the people staying in the back of the 50's 60's and 70's to walk over the bridge, easing the conjestion over this side.

GHOST TOWN

Anyway we did go across the bridge which has all the years including the ones they have not yet built on them and stopped to take a couple of pictures of the years we were born Vicki 1990, and me 1980(just kidding) 1962, but as there was no 62 I stood by the 1960 and stuck my 2 fingers up(not in a rude way of course). When you get to the end of the bridge, you can just make out part of the other foodcourt and reception buliding over the other side if you squint through the bushes. It took us a full 3/4's of an hour to do a full lap, but that was stopping for photos as well. I also think it would be nice if they had something going on the lake, such as little boats, we were very dissapointed to find out that they no longer rent out surrey bikes niether, we were really looking forward to going on them. There is more than enough room in the resort for them.

We then made our way back to the room to change and go swimming, and sit by the pool for a while where Vicki was going to show me how to play poker at long last.So we gathered up all our things, got the cards, covered up with sunlotion, and off we went. We found a great table by the pool, settled down, Vicki delt the first hand, and then it starting pouring down. Well being the hard brit I am, I thought we'de sit it out, but only then to hear the lifeguards blowing their whistle and asking us to move away from the pool area.Gathered up all our belongings and made our way back to the room, poker would have to wait for another day. Vicki was delighted to find waiting for her, 3 large balloons and a card from Donald Duck hoping she was having a nice holiday and that she had enjoyed her birthday. What a lovely suprise, I did not order this and knew nothing about it, and its the little things like this that Disney does so well.

BIRTHDAY BALLOONS FROM DONALD.

We then set off to Epcot for our dis meet, we arrived at World Showcase around 4.00pm and after a leisurely stroll around we arrived at the Rose and Crown a little before 6.30, got a couple of drinks and sat in the garden, where I was hoping anybody who turned up would find us. After 10 mins I popped into the bar to see if I could see anyone, but nobody looked like they were waiting for anybody so I went back outside, and got talking to a lovely American couple.10 mins later Karen, Jon and the girls turned up and Vicki went to have another look to see if anybody looked like they were waiting for someone. I have since found out that our other half of the disers were inside whilst we were outside, how we missed each other I dont know, but we did, never mind guys, maybe we will have more luck next year.

Karen and Jon then invited us over to the Boardwalk for a look at their room and a drink, now another first for us was walking through International Gateway at Epcot, I did'nt even know it exsisted until this year, and I could not believe how close it was to the Boardwalk and Swan/ Dolphin. Well Boardwalk took my breath away, it was wonderful, we had a quick look at Karen and Jons room (much tidier than ours, I have to admit lol) which was fabulous, and the lucky things had a balcony overlooking the pool. We then went down to sit by the pool for a drink for an hour. Jon and the girls went swimming whilst Karen and I caught up on everything we had been doing and our plans for the rest of the holidays(chatting like mad for want of a better word). We had a great evening and Vicki had a blast with the girls in the pool. Said our goodbyes and said we would get in touch with each other to make arrangements to meet up in the week to go to MGM.

KAREN AND JON'S LITTLE ANGELS

We got the boat back to MGM, another first for us, and then the bus back to the POP. Refilled our mugs and got a bite to eat, watched TV for awhile and fell asleep dreaming of winning the Lottery so that I can buy DVC at the Boardwalk.

:wave2: Thank you so much for posting Sue, I am enjoying reading your reports. I loved your story about the rooms and knocking on the wrong doors. :rotfl:

Note to self, check out the talent first before picking a room number to knock on :rotfl2:

Another great report Sue, isn't that typical - you get a lie in and someone interrupts you !! I was a bit disappointed that there was no photos of the half naked man (hee, hee). I love your photos and it makes me even more excited about visiting the Pop Century at Crimbo.

That was really interesting Sue!! We stayed at Pop last summer (2004) and they were building the other part then - thought they'd have finished it by now!!! We really liked it too - we were in the bit with the giant table football players and the giant Mickey Mouse phone. LOVE your photos, by the way - ours are just the same except with us standing by the car etc :rotfl: !! Looking forward to the next installment!!

thanks for sharing

i too would love to get a DVC at the boardwalk
:wizard:

What a lovely report Sue

Loved the photos of Pop:)

Wow a card and balloons from Donald, how lovely.

Great photos of my favourite resort, I love staying at Pop :) I loved the Boardwalk as well, I'd love to stay there one day. Good advice about checking the room number before knocking :rotfl:

It is easy to get the wrong number - somehow they are those sorts of numbers that slide straight out of yur head (like bank issue PIN numbers :rotfl2: ). We pushed the buggy right up against the window to help us spot our room - I had covered the handles in really lary fabric so we could spot it in the buggy park - after DH was 15 mins late with the refillable mugs one morning

Great report Sue,

The Boardwalk looks outstanding.

Great photos of the Pop Sue! I will overlook you not posting one of the half naked man :teeth:

LOVE the photos Sue. I loved the Boardwalk too and hope I get to stay there one day. :)

Wow I like the look of POP - though DD would probably spend the whole holiday in the pool with the fountains!

On to Day 5 now!

:) Thanks for these great reports Sue, it's cheering me up no end! Your soooo funny!, ever thought of writing a book? Off to read the next instalment!
