To all you Floridians:

How accurate are the weather forecasts? I have been looking at Accuweather's 15 day and the forecast changes drastically from day to day. For the week between Christmas & New Years and the week after. I am looking at both Bradenton and Orlando.

Yesterday, NYE was to be 78, today high 60's - at what point do the forecasts get accurate? I know here where I live due to the mountains it is very hard to predict and anything out more than a couple of days is useless.

Are there some better sites that someone knows of?

Thanks, trying to pack - 1st week in Bradenton, 2nd week in Orlando

I'm not a Floridian, but their weather forecasters are no better than those in any other part of the country. The only thing you can use a 15 day forecast for is to give you an idea of the range of conditions you may encounter.

The best advice is to bring layers. That way some combination of clothing will be appropriate for the actual conditions you encounter.

www.wftv.com is a great local weather station. I would wait until closer to your stay before starting to worry about the weather. Even a bad day here is much better than a lot of places.

Be prepared for anything. When we arrived on the 9th the high was only 55 and then a few days later it was back in to the upper 70's but cold at night then we had some rain too! In my opinion it was never warm enough to swim but I did wear jeans, sweater, turtleneck and gloves and then tank and shorts just a few days later!

DH just arrived yesterday and when he called today, asked me to bring along another pair of shorts for him it was so warm. I've been checking the forecasts, too, and it doesn't look so promising for this weekend and Christmas Day. The only consolation is maybe it'll keep the local crowds away--which seemed to be the case when we spent our first Christmas at WDW two years ago. It poured most of Christmas Day, but unlike the current forecasts for temps in the 70s with rain, it was windy, rainy, and cold--with temps in the 40s.

I'm trying to keep optomistic since I too agree that a day in WDW is better than a day anywhere else, even if it rains. (But I do hate wet sneakers!)
