Florida Teacher Gets No Jail Time

The 25 year old middle school teacher who admitted to having sex with a 14 year old student, got off with 7 years probation, 3 years house arrest, but no jail time.

Had the teacher been male, and the student female, he'd be in prison for the next 25 years.

No, I agree. However, doesn't mean the punishments should be different.

Even I have mixed feelings. It's wrong, but I certainly don't blame the 14 year old kid or feel as though he's traumitized for life.

So she pled guilty so she wouldn't have to go to jail and they PLANNED to use an insanity defense saying she was "too stressed" to know right from wrong?!?!?!

I think she should have gotten jail time, and I think she SERIOUSLY needs a reality check!

well, I totally agree with you. If the teacher would have been a male, people would be screaming for the Death Penalty.

Not to flame you VetteChick - but do you honestly not feel that a 14yo boy can't be abused? I have to wonder about the Psychological effects any Jr. High kid that forms such an attachment to an authority-adult will have for years.

Probably. But speaking as a guy, I think even at that age, I'd have survived just fine.

I hope this teacher's certification has been removed and she can no longer teach anywhere. Disgusting. A 14yo boy can be abused especially by an authority figure such as a teacher. No jail time. That's pitiful.

I can't stand the double standard when it comes to men and women and sex abuse on children. It should be just as much a crime as if it were a man teacher and a 14 yo girl. I don't get the men and women are different.

Why? because the 14 yo BOY got the hot teacher? It shouldn't be a crime because she is so beautiful, an all the boys probably fantasized about her anyway? What if it was a HOT male teacher, and some 14 yo girl was lucky enough to "have" him? I know when I was 14, if the teacher I had a MASSIVE crush on fed off my attention, God knows what would of happened. I would not of felt like a crime had been committed, but one would have.

Her teaching license has been revoked. She also has to register as a sexual offender, she also cannot be with any child unsupervised, no matter what child.
I don't think she got enough time, and I think just for the statement that was said that she was to beautiful for prison she should go to prison!

I never said boys couldn't be abused, I just feel it's a totally different situation. I hate to comment more though, since I don't know all the details of the case.

Another fine reason, to stay put and only *visit* Florida - not move there.

No she doesn't have kids, and they didn't say anything about if she has children what would happen.
Last week a woman whos ex is seeing Deborah tried to get a restraining order against her, so Deborah couldn't be around her children that she has with the ex. (did that make sense?) Well, it was not granted, so I am not sure how this is going to play out for her now.
