Florida Sun Vacation Homes - why this rule?

Why can you not book homes from Fl Vacation Home more than 10 months in advance? I want to book 4 or 5 units near each other for 2011 and they will not let me book until 10 months out.

If you rent from an owner, you can book way out - but I wanted to book all from one place so that I was just sending money and dealing with one company. But I think I should book individually because they will let me confirm it now.

Maybe it has something to do with how their management contracts are structured with the individual homeowners. As in, perhaps there is a 12 month management contract between FL Sun and the owner and FL Sun doesn't want to take the risk of having to move your party if the owner doesn't renew their management contract.

Renting directly from an owner means not dealing directly with a management company, thus eliminating the contract issue.

Just a guess.

This is a group of Windsor Hills owners that co-market their properties. They are all relatively close to one another, and might suit your needs. They tend to be condos (with a townhome or two) not pool homes. I have no affiliation with them.

thanks I checked them out and they have some great prices. But, they only rent Sat-Sat and that does not fit with our schedule.

I too was very discouraged by the 10 month out rental rule and ended up booking another home directly with the owner for a long term period in 2011. Be very careful about what you are offered by this company. I was looking for a certain home, south facing pool, comrow st etc. and they offered me properties which did not meet that criteria. It pays to be familiar with the layout of Windsor Hills,so you know which houses truly have south facing pools. The villa we are currently renting meets that criteria, but we have had some issues, so will not be renting it again. Too bad, it is a nice villa but very expensive and quite frankly not worth the price due to the problems we have had. :sad2:

Thank you so much for the advice. I just cannot wait until 10 months before we leave. Not with needing 4 or 5 different units. Oh well, we will just book directly with the owner too.
